but unfortunately, that's pretty much to be expected. Christians don't seem to want to help others unless there's something in it for them.

edited for a really bad spelling error
Well there is a sizeable subset of them that believe that HIV is gods punishment for their sexual deviance. This message has been edited by Theodoric, 12-15-2005 09:44 PM

Even if they were that ignorant, there is the genome project they could help with. But instead, they have not stepped up to "do for the least of these".

I have to confess that the reaction HIV/AIDS brings out in some people was partly the reason I wrote the 'Proteins need love too' Message 85 to make sure people knew they could contribute to other very important research.

And even that did not help.

Yeah - I was kind of disappointed
It never hurts to try though. I wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then

I just became number 20!

Welcome Jazzns. Let's make a difference.
For the rest of the EvC members who have not signed up yet: Most of you probably have a ten tonne truck for a computer, where a shopping cart would have done nicely. After all, typing up funny lists of Murphy's laws and playing Tic-Tac-Toe doesn't really take much more computing power than a piece of paper and a pencil, or does it? So maybe, just maybe, it's not such a bad idea to put all those superfluous megabytes, gigaherzes and teraflops* to good use and finally sign up for this. Or must I assume that EvC really stands for Ephemeromorphic vacuous Cretins? No, I wouldn't think so either. Asgara, expect some more team mates in the coming days.
*Well, all right, not teraflops then. But I'm not writing this to be pointed at as someone who wrote 'giga' twice in one sentence, where 'giga' and 'tera' really do look much nicer. My new signature: (Robin, are you paying attention? It hasn't been two weeks. And have you signed up yet?) This message has been edited by Parasomnium, 16-Dec-2005 02:07 PM Did you know that most of the time your computer is doing nothing? What if you could make it do something really useful? Like helping scientists understand diseases? Your computer could even be instrumental in finding a cure for HIV/AIDS. Wouldn't that be something? If you agree, then join World Community Grid now and download a simple, free tool that lets you and your computer do your share in helping humanity. After all, you are part of it, so why not take part in it?

You don't know what what is? The two weeks, or the signing up? I know about the two weeks. This other business seems a little strange. Lieutenant Dan: Have you found Jesus yet? Forrest Gump: Didn't know I was supposed to be looking for him, sir.

Have you looked at the World Community Grid website? They explain quite clearly what it's all about.

C'mon, Robin...sign up. It's easy, no technical wizardry required, and it makes a great screensaver.
I think it looks particularly good over a Chilean or Californian cabernet balancing an oakish presentation and long berry finish, perhaps with some baked brie and cold roast beef. Your results may vary. Save lives! Click here! Join the World Community Grid with Team EvC!
