Re: Omnivorous
Damn I just read it and was about to put in my own nomination for it! I thought omniverous' discussion of certain historical "facts" was just as insightful and interesting as the difference between history and science as educational subjects.
Manifest Contagion, I loved it... and would love to know where he got all of that info.
Anyway, seconded. Definitely seconded.

omniverous tucked away in the book nook
Book Nook
Post 1 by Omniverous is good enough, but it is followed by more information and speculative replies worth reading.
This is a rather late recommendation, but I missed the thread until now. In a way it is a follow up to a POTM for Omni given earlier this month.
I am nominating it because of it not only adds info to an earlier discussion, but does tie in with evolutionary concepts. Environmental and ecological developments of nonmilitary and nonintentional natures, may have shaped the history of humans more than we give credit.
Who conquered the Americas? Microbial pathogens perhaps.

Re: Schraf again
I'm not meaning to question a choice for POTM, but I am sincerely wondering if you cited the one you meant to. In your nom you said...
She exhibits no annoyance
Yet the first four responses (before I stopped reading) were almost entirely insults. Certainly the first two were. I scanned the rest and there didn't seem to be much there (as in amount of writing), with a relative repetition of how the other poster was gullible.
Schraf can write well sometimes, so its not that I was surprised she was nominated, but your description of the post seems totally different than what I found at the other end of the link. If you did mean that post, I apologize. Just raising the question of a possible error.

Re: Schraf again
I don't see them as insults directed at the individual but rather at the views expressed.
Oh, okay. I guess I view insults of any kind as expressions of annoyance (unless they are friendly jibes). That assumption set me up for a misunderstanding.
