Re: Bump
Hi Phat,
I don't think I've ever explained this before, though those familiar with how servers work can probably figure it out.
The "online now" list is created using information from EvC Forum's server. It includes everyone who has touched a discussion board page in the past half hour.
But the "chatting now" list uses information from the chatroom server, which belongs to SigmaChat. This list includes everyone in the chatroom, except moderators in invisible mode, although they're included in the list for other moderators. I don't frequent chat often enough to remember how to do this, but it's in the SigmaChat documentation which is available through one of those buttons beneath the chat window.
I can merge the two lists, but I don't want to do that until I have a chat solution that is an integrated part of the board, i.e., configurable through the control panel.
About getting bounced out of the chatroom, that might be related to your Internet connection. Browser pages don't require continuous connections, but the chatroom does. It isn't tolerant of short outages. Yahoo Messenger and MSN Messenger are very tolerant of them, but SigmaChat is not.

Hmmm. They wrap in IE, not in FF. I'll see what it takes to make it work in both.

Re: Log-in bugs
The problem is likely too many cookies. Go to the bottom of your profile page and click on the "Click here to delete all cookies set by this discussion board" link. You'll be asked to log in again, should be the last time.

Re: Not seeing any date/time on posts
Possibly you don't have Javascript enabled in your browser? If not, then you'll have to go your profile and select to use the discussion board's timezone.
Nwr is also correct that the problem could be browser specific. Let us know which browser you're using and we can tell you how to enable Javascript, if possible for that browser.

This "feature" has been fixed.
If you give me information about the user in PAF I should be able to straighten it out.
One of the new features of the board is that member names are no longer case sensitive. This means there's no longer a "percy" account, and [Dan's clever alias] and [Dan's Clever Alias] are now merged together. I tried to find all the name collisions, but I might have missed some, and this member might be affected by this.

Incidently, the profile information no longer has a visible password. So how does an administrator help a person who is having password problems, and can't get mail from the site that tells him the password. (Note, this is a hypothetical, since it isn't the problem in this particular case).
Forgot to answer this question. As a security measure, member's passwords are no longer available to moderators. When a member forgets his password, edit his profile and change his password to anything of your choice and save the change, then email the user the temporary password you assigned him. When he logs in he can change it to something else.

Re: Password cookie?
Hmmm. Can't think why that might happen. When cookie limits are passed (the limit is 20), very strange things can happen, but as a normal member you should only have been using around 10 cookies at most (around 8 is the board, and then chat can use two more if you use it).
If you change your password again does the same thing happen? If I can figure out how to reproduce it then I can fix it.

Re: Order wrong
Mr Jack writes:
It used to give me newer messages at the bottom of the page, now their at the top. I've tried changing the order in my profile but it makes no difference.
This appears to be working for me. Just to be sure we're talking about the same thing, if I have "chronological" checked for message display order, then on the first page of a thread message 1 is displayed at the top. When I change my profile to select "reverse chronological" and refresh the page, now message 15 is at the top.
So it sounds like you're saying this isn't working for you. I can't imagine why that might be. Let me know if this problem persists and I'll take a closer look. I'll probably have to log in as you, which will require temporarily changing your password. When I'm done you can change it back. Moderators no longer have password access, for security reasons. (I still have access to passwords, of course, because I can access the database and passwords are not encrypted, but I wouldn't look up member's passwords. Password encryption is coming in a future release, and then I won't have access, either.)

Re: Collecting evc cookies
Nwr is correct that there are seven cookies written by EvC Forum. If you delete EvC Forum cookies then the board will behave strangely from time to time, and you'll probably get asked to log in a lot. Now that we have many fewer cookies with the dBoard 2.0 release, there should never be any reason to delete EvC Forum cookies.
Cookies can be set on your machine by any website you access, but care has been taken in the implementation of browsers to ensure that cookies are not a security risk. Deletion of cookies is usually not necessary, though I'm sure there can be special circumstances. Unless you're visiting lots of high-risk and/or disreputable websites, I don't think there's much to worry about.
EvC Forum updates the "WithinSession" cookie every time you click on any link. This cookie is set to expire within 30 minutes to indicate that your session is over, but every mouse click resets it again. This means that your current session always expires 30 minutes after your last mouse click.
EvC Forum also updates the "ThreadTracker" cookie every time you visit a page of a thread. This cookie controls whether the light blue dot is displayed to the left of forums and threads to indicate that there are new messages you haven't read yet.
There are other cookies, but they are set much less often. The "SessionBeginTime" cookie is set every time you begin a new session. The rest of the cookies are only set when you login.

Re: dBoard font size code no longer working in signatures
Added to my list - should be an easy fix! You won't have to change anything, they'll just start displaying at the right size soon.

Re: Login Problems
When you say you "cleared all my cookies", do you mean that you used the link at the bottom of your profile page? If so, then try deleting cookies for this site from Netscape's Edit
Preferences window by double clicking on "Privacy and Security", then clicking on "Cookies", then clicking on "Manage Stored Cookies". Find the cookies, select all of them, then delete them by clicking on "Remove Cookie".
Then switch to FireFox! No just kidding. The above should work.
