question.
is it not a "general discussion?" and if the topic is "moderator procedures" between members, shouldn't that be allowed?

Perhaps I could have worded that better, but I was trying to be brief.
The kind of debate I was trying to halt had drifted into discussion of member behavior, rather than just moderator behavior. And that's not appropriate for this thread.

Re: Do something about JAR
Another insulting post from JAR, which he does quite regularly with impunity, even in Admin Mode bringing shame to the title Admin. I've never seen JAR suspended but he's deserved it dozens of times in the last year.
Faith without Works is barren.

Re: Conflict Resolution Thread
I will set up a thread in the Great Debate forum and you can participate in a monitored conflict resolution discussion.
Since you made this suggestion for dealing with the conflict between Trixie and me, the topic has been reopened on this thread, and I think some kind of opportunity to hash it out does need to be given after all. Roxrkool just made a long accusation of me which I cannot answer otherwise.
I'd rather it weren't a Great Debate but open to whoever has an opinion about the original conflict. It just needs to be aired.

Re: Conflict Resolution Thread
Faith,
IMO, you made your peace in Message 95 and the situation between you and Trixie is closed. The posters who added their unsolicited opinions after that are out of line.
The best approach is to keep your inner peace and let us handle them. This is one of those situations where turning the other cheek is the best thing to do. It isn't easy, but it is the best thing to do.
To all who read this message: The situation between Faith and Trixie has been resolved to the satisfaction of the participants. The subject is closed.
Reminder: This thread is not for discussing member behavior, but to discuss moderator procedures.

Re: Conflict Resolution Thread
For crying out loud!!! When is anyone going to notice that I'm asking for Admin to look at what AdminRandman said and did! It has nothing to do with Faith or what she said about me, that's dealt with. I just accept that as Faith being Faith. Adminrandman stepped in and had a go at me when I had done nothing! On top of that, while "moderating" he was accusing me of lying.
How many times do I have to point this out before someone actually bothers to read what I've written?
Added by edit: On the slim chance that anyone is going to bother checking this out, it's Message 78 in this thread.

Re: Conflict Resolution Thread
A quick note. This issue is under discussion in the Private Adminstration Forum. In fact, it has been under discussion for several days. I'm afraid you will have to be patient.

There is a lot of discussion happening in the Private Admin Forum on this
Most non-admin members probably don't even know such a thing exists, because there is no indication of such in the general public view (other than getting mentioned in messages), but does have a "Private Administration Forum".
The Trixie / Faith / AdminRandman situation is under considerable discussion in that private forum.
Please calm down and stand by. Eventually there will be some sort of public announcement concerning the situation.

Re: Conflict Resolution Thread
Just for the record, I appreciated AdminRandman's defense very much but I didn't think he got it said very clearly. This I believe is because the whole thing was very confusing, and my own posts on the subject weren't clear either. Figuring out what Trixie was doing was not easy and answering her full of risks of further misunderstanding. Since he may well be defending himself against everybody else in the private admin forum I just want to offer him some support. She may not have intended to be "playing games" but a fair assessment of her strange communication should show why one would naturally think she was.
{ABE: I went through the thread and tried to capture the basic problem}

Re: Conflict Resolution Thread
Thanks for posting that.
I can tell you this much. The primary concern of the administrators, in their discussion, is in avoiding or minimizing personal conflict.
Perhaps you and Trixie can help with that too. There have been a couple of instances of miscommunication, where one of you says something not intended to be an insult, while the other takes it as an insult. So I am asking both of you to be careful in your communications to avoid triggering an incident. And if one of you sees a message from the other as an insult, I am asking that you stop reacting for a while, and think about the possibility that it might not have been intended as an insult.
The debates on a forum such as this are, of course, all about conflicting ideas. That's the nature of debate. But we would like to keep to conflict to be about the subject matter, and not about the debaters.

Sometimes you just have to declare a topic to be a terminal mess
This I believe is because the whole thing was very confusing, ...
Faith - Thank you for that message.
We have at least two situations where two members are apparently having trouble understanding/following what the other is saying (the Holmes/Rrhain thing being the other).
We get situations where members get focused into long convoluted discussions. People get upset, and admins are expected to somehow step in and make sense of it all. Every once in a while an admin may pull of an admin-miracle and do such, but quite an effort is involved.
I think I'm more inclined to say "I can't begin to make sense of what's going on. I'm going to declare this topic a terminal mess and close it. Please take a clear starting point theme to a new topic. Please DO NOT just move this whole mess to a new topic". And the topic gets closed.

Added by edit: Once again squirrel faster than moose.
Second edit: Error was pointed out to me (squirrel also smarter than moose). Changed "Holmes/Arachnophilia" to "Holmes/Rrhain" above. Just shows, I can't even keep track of who's not getting along with who.
