From Chicago Tribune article
Google Inc. is refusing to obey a Justice Department demand that it release information about what people seek when they use the popular search engine, setting up a possible battle with broad implications for Internet privacy rights.

The Justice Department asked a federal court this week to force Google to turn over a trove of information on how people use the Internet. A subpoena, first sought over the summer, seeks activity on Google's search engines for a single week, a request that Google says could lead to identifying millions of people and what they were looking at.

Yahoo, which has the second most popular Internet search engine, acknowledged Thursday it has complied with the government on a "limited basis."

Other Internet search engines also appear to have complied with the request, said Chris Winfield, president of 10e20 LLC, a New York-based search engine marketing firm. "It looks like Google against everyone," he said.

Who do you trust eh?

Man... what the hell is happening to america?

Then again, I suppose it has allways been this way. Canada looks more and more apealing every day.

AMEN
I REALLY want to move to Canada because I love the beauty (eh?) and Rush.
But also, I share your sentiment. I do not need an agent looking over my search logs and see that I have an affinity for transvestite penguins and the nearsighted dogs that love them...

I'll be doing my best at the November elections. But then I did my best the last few times, and it wasn't enough.

Could it be that Microsoft and Yahoo...

Canada looks more and more apealing every day.

if google loses, we should launch a campaign of actively googling the phrase "i'm moving to canada" repeatedly.

"because bush is an idiot"

Personally I think they are using porn as the excuse to just spy on the american public, trusting the shortsighted gop base to believe that is all there is to it.

I'd certainly be happier about it if this government showed any degree of caring what the public thought in terms of how they structured regulation (ie of the people by the people kind of input).

As it sits I don't trust this government any further than you can throw a stick with the dog already attached.
