Re: correction
You did understand that the sum of my response was to admit you were right that they were no longer active in the capacity I had implied, right?
Yes, and thank you for that. Sorry to hear about your suspension, which seemed bizarre to me, as your comments were spot-on, as far as the moderation discussion thread, and hey, if you cannot voice dissent there, where can you?
See ya in a day or so....

Re: People that are irrelevant in this topic
Dobson has a conference call with the White House almost weekly. More during an election year.

Re: People that are irrelevant in this topic
Yea, I would expect Dobson to have more contact than Falwell or Robertson, although I'd like to see verification of the weekly conference call, which I seriously doubt the president is on.
But I like Dobson OK. I think he has sound judgement and is probably a good person for the WH to consult with.
What do you not like about Dobson?

Short term topic closure coming soon
I suggest all review message 1 and the begining of the topic in general.
And, people, how about ditching that "irrelevant" message subtitle?

Topic reopened - Replay of message 1
The topic title is Who represents Christians if Falwell, Dobson and Robertson don't? You know, that sentence that appears prominently on every page having anything to do with the topic.
Message 1's content:
I have been wondering about the complaints I have been hearing from Christians who say that Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson and James Dobson do not speak for them even though they are the three most prominent Christian political and religious figures in America today.
Clearly, all three are radical right-wing Fundamentalists and only represent a small but vocal minority of Christians in the US. However, they are the only prominent political Christian voices I ever hear, and this tends to color my view of American Protestant Christians overall.
Why is there no organized, vocal mainstream Christian opposition to these men, and if they do not represent "the rest of the Christians", who does?
There is now a seperate James Dobson topic.

Actually, Jesus is not dead, and He more than represents Christianity, He is the whole of it.

You're missing the spirit of what schraf is asking. If non-Christians believe they cannot hear or communicate with this "living Jesus", then Jesus cannot be the representative of Christians to non-Christians.
Or, to be more frank, if he is the representative, then I don't see how he could be a good one. Even Geico made it's representative a talking Gekko. It wouldn't have been useful to have a silent, or one which speaks Bengali.
If your representative isn't seen or heard by the very people that he's supposed to be representing you to, then... that's not very good representation. It has nothing to do with whether Jesus is real, alive, or even if he's speaking and non-Christians aren't listening. If he's not being heard, then that's a crappy representative as far as I can tell.

Re: Duh
Jesus is dead, so he can't represent anybody.
Thats the whole point, his death(physical).
It is through his death that he represents. It is how we are saved. It is why the world is the way it is now.
What Jesus did affects even you, whether you realize it or not.
It's up to you to seek why. He left with some words, and a good example of how to live a life to be with God.
By seeking him, you will find him. He left us his Holy Spirit, and when you experience this spirit, you will be a witness.
Acts 1:
8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."
That is what is claimed to have been said by Jesus in the bible.

Re: Duh
To be more specific, the best representative of Jesus, is the Holy Spirit, which dwells within you.

Re: Duh
If Jesus were here, on this board right now, would he back up his claims with evidence, randman?
Would he follow rule #4 of the forum rules?
Or, would He demand that everybody else do His research for Him?
