Really? Is that why the human population is growing faster than ever?

We destroy our planet and ourselves faster and faster. I think most animals are doing better than we are.
That's funny, funk. You state that we are destroying the planet -- meaning, I take, life on the planet since we haven't made a dent in the big round rock itself -- and in the next breath say all that life we are destroying is doing better than we are. I wonder if you pay attention to yourself.

Maybe if we stopped acting like animals, caring only for ourselves or our immediate group, we might fare a little better?
From your post #1:
John Nash's theory I'm guessing sums up to the idea that doing the good of the group ends up being in the best interest of the individual. Jesus teaches us to serve others always first. To not think of ourselves but of the greater good of our fellow man.
Are you not contradicting yourself? Sure seems like that to me.
It might also serve you to note that I am not disagreeing with this statement but merely pointing out that it isn't special to Christianity. Societies work on some incarnation of this principle. It is practical.
Now, however, you wish to turn 180 degrees. Why? Are you so rabidly dogmatic that you can't stand to have me agree?

Maybe if our personal actions were not selfish, and we made attempts to base our actions on what would be the best for humanity we could fare a little better?
The survival of the species does likely depend upon our expanding the concept of one's group to the larger group of the global population. If you look around you you'll notice that religions tend to be divisive. This is the opposite of what is needed, so I'd think again about your position.

I read a book where a guy taught that.
I'm not surprised. Every civilization that has left a record has left a book extolling these things. Anthropology will serve to show the same for illiterate cultures. Maybe you should try reading outside your KJV.
