You are right. People would still be fighting even in the absense of religion. Religion does set itself up as a mechanism for preventing such things. You know, a force for peace and love and such like. But that simply isn't true.------------------

Actually, US politics runs on religion. That is, politicians base campaigns on what are fundamentally religious issues and/or disguise the real issues as religious issues in order to milk the church-goers. The whole system is a really big mess, so we make a lot of bombs.------------------
