Until just now, I had believed that animals did not matter, that their existance was unimportant, and insignificant to that of man. But I just read a verse in Genesis that made me think a little bit differently. I think that animals provide essential actions for the planet to WORK.
Algae-like protista, and algae produce 60% of the earth's oxygen.Decomposer's roles Larger Animals serve as a food source for us? Can anyone shed some light on the subject of animals and their relationship to us? Previously I have thought that everything was made for us, while I hold that this is still true, I now believe that a deep level of respect must be had for all life, for our earth, and for our universe. EDIT: I do think though, that having house pets is almost childish, and sort of strange. My family had a fish hand me down, my sister didn't feed it, and it died. It was nasty though, a japanese fighter fish or something. Why do you guys (those who own pets) like having pets, is there a particular function, or just for enjoyment? Just wondering. For me, it's because I love animals and have a connection with them. I have a little Pekingese at home (he's relatively huge, about 19 pounds and hardly any bodyfat. Pretty big for a peke) and I love him more than most people. They are pure. Their special. That's just my 2 cents.
BTW: Japanese fighting fish are way rad! I wish I had one. This message has been edited by LudoRephaim, 03-12-2006 06:43 PM "The Nephilim where in the Earth in those days..." Genesis 6:4

At the lower right of each message in a thread you will find a LGB (Little Green Button). If you use the LGB it links the messages and if the other poster has turned notification on, will send an email so they know you have replied.
At the lower left is a General Reply button. It adds a message but the message is simply part of the thread, not linked in context to other messages. Hope this helps.

That's much better.
If you look at the top right of the message, or the bottom left, you will see where it says: "Reply to: Message 24 by AdminNosy". We look for that to see who you are replying to. It helps when reading.

i have a cat. she is my friend. i feed her; she sleeps with me. she keeps me company and comes to comfort me when i cry. i try to provide her the same comfort. i can guarantee that she would be dead if i hadn't adopted her. she had nasty, nasty ringworm at 3 weeks of age. she lost all her fur and was pooping blood. albeit i had to care for her and my roommate's cat and so my friend took her cause she could isolate her better. she was so little that she could get out under the door of the bathroom i was trying to keep her in. but she still follows me around in the mornings.

Hey there
I love hearing people's stories about their animals. My Pekingese dog loves cats, though he also loves to chase them. This message has been edited by LudoRephaim, 03-13-2006 05:31 PM "The Nephilim where in the Earth in those days..." Genesis 6:4

Ecc 3:21 Who knoweth the spirit of man that goeth upward, and the spirit of the beast that goeth downward to the earth?
That looks like someone asking a question to me, not a ststement of whether or not animals have a soul

It looks to me like someone asking a question about who knows these spirits but not asking whether they know where the spirit goes but simply if they know the spirit of man and the spirit of animals -- really rhetorically stating that these spirits cannot be known, so it's not asking anything.
It's like saying Who knows the wind that bloweth where it listeth, and the water that flows downward to the sea. Not questioning the direction, simply saying that in essence these things are unknowable. In the process of saying that, the spirit of animals has been DEFINED as going downward into the earth, just as the water has been defined as flowing to the sea.
