Paul, often at the end of your posts there seems to be a random character and I've been theorizing about it for some time. And there are some wild theories from compulsive typos, an indexing method, and a non-standard system (eg). Can you shed some light on all of this?
A random collection of examples:
1
How does that fit into a Flood scenario ?t
2
If your imagination is too limited to effectively participate in these arguments - which is what
you are essentially claiming - then you are free to withdraw.e
3
Of course there are plenty of other factors (does the velocity with which the rain hits have an
effect ?)
r
4
He may not even be capable of admitting it.n
5 (my favourite)
A question you have to be able to answer for your position to be tenable.
I haven't trawled through all of Paul's posts, but a sort of random binomial search pattern leads me to believe it seems to have started around and about here
Apologists often make claims outside their field of expertise.e
Anyone else noticed this? Anyone have any sane (or insane - why not) ideas as what's going on here?

Yes! Thank the Great Green Arkleseizure that I'm not the only one who has noticed this! I've wanted to ask on many, many occasions, but always resisted... if they were just simple typos I didn't want to seem rude. Though if they are then why do they always appear at the end like that? Why not more randomly?
My (insane?) hypothesis is that Paul was born with six fingers on one hand, and the muscular tissue of the extra digit is connected in such a way that it causes a spasmodic reflex every time his "regular" fingers stop typing. That's why the random characters tend to appear at the ends of his posts. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
But, seriously, now that I know I'm not the only one who's curious I don't mind asking so much. So what's the deal, Paul?

I'm going to guess that the explanation is that he has trouble with his keyboard.
When I type on laptops, I find it hard to do on those little flat keyboards. I'll guess the addages are just random.

I've had the theory that it is a code for an elaborate filing system in which he keeps the content of his posts sorted by some system known only to himself.

Filing system

Yeah, that's my favourite pet theory too. Maybe if I get bored (and Paul keeps it as a mystery), I'll try and work out his system
that said, I like Tony's six fingered hypothesis -just for mental image of a Strangelovesque phenomenon where his sixth finger is trying to type subversive commentary, but only gets time to get to one character before Paul manages to hit submit.

They're not my doing. I've tried removing them by editing the post and just got a new one inserted.
So far as I can tell they're a weird interaction between my (old) browser and the forum software.
And this is posted from work, using different software. So no extra letter appears on the end.

aaaah, so it's my non-standard system theory (my only real realistic theory ). What browser (version etc) is it? Do you know off the top of your head?

It was tough
but if you take the time to collect all of them sequentially, you can work it out. It is not a direct epistle but rather several anagrams separated by a few palindomes, that when ordered and translated first into Urdu, then idiomatic Basque and then back into English, is a copy of the Social Calendar of the Duke of Wales for 1956.

My other idea was that he was trying to gradually corrupt our minds by inserting subliminal messages, one letter at a time, into his posts. *feels a sudden urge to sacrifice live chickens to the Almighty Paul*

Oh come on everyone...they are clearly intelligently designed since random errors in typing or DNA replication cannot occur ever

A solution at last
It's obviously a subliminal message to get everyone to stop buying MicroSoft products.

the letter
I also notice there is always an extraneous "K" at the end of "Paul" :-)
The real reason has to do with the eavesdropping Java applet that the Bush administration inserted is an old version compared to the one given to the rest of the Forum participants.
