Re: LOL
Hmmm, not sure how to take that Certainly not that (in)famous! He seems to have done well now though with his move to my old home (DAMTP-GR). I guess I have my dubious side too but it tends to only surface with my anonymity here...
Good to hear from you BTW. We seemed to just miss each other in activity here at EvC. Funny, reading back over your old posts I used to think you were a little abrasive at times... and of course finding myself becoming exactly the same way after 10 months of posting!

Re: LOL
I haven't posted in 10 months or so. Funny about DAMTP since that was my old haunt as well.
I think debatig creationists on other forums lends itself to getting abrasive at times.

Re: LOL
I'm not sure I want to say. Let's just say it might have been really close you yours.
I cherish the anonymity as well.

Understood and no problem. Given your speed of response, I can at least dismiss one possibilty

Re: LOL
LOL. Did you mean Stephen?
I think I am quite a bit older than you so we weren't in the same neighbourhood at the same time. I read on another thread you talking about lattice QCD. Are you in that area? If you don't want to answer I understand. In fact, are you still in academia?

Serious question for our cosmologists
So why does Alan Campbell Peel wear a fez?

Re: LOL
Who else... but you're not abrasive enough either!
No, I'm pretty much pure QG, either via strings, TQFT, quantum cosmology, etc. And no, sadly I left long ago. Have done many things since, but will always be an undying passion. I still try to keep up with hep-th and gr-qc...

Re: LOL
LOL Agreed. Stephen is not exactly a buddy of mine.
What made you leave academia? I was originally QG (well actually originally I was going into number theory but I got sidetracked.)
If you don't mind me asking what do you do (vague if you wish) that allowed the same intellectual challenge? That's why I could never leave science - the fear of boredom.

Getting way Off Topic
But I find the discussion fascinating.
Would you good folk consider starting a new thread (coffeehouse) where this could continue? I think it would be exciting to see how many of us view challenge, boredoom and what we fear.

I'll be back. The reason I came in was a friend of mine (astronomer from Cambridge back in the days actually) emailed me about this board the other day since my name cropped up on another forum about my posting here.
You didn't sell out to a job in the City did you? LOL
