Author | Topic: What in the world? (Name that mystery object) | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Just for the fun of it I'd like to start a thread on identifying common objects.
Here's how it works. I will provide a picture of an objcet. The goal is to identify what it is and what its primary purpose is. It may well have secondary purposes, things that it CAN be used for beyond its primary purpose, but they will not answer the question. A screwdriver can be used to open paint cans, or even hammer the lids closed, but that is not its primary purpose. The first person to correctly identify the primary purpose of the object gets to post pictures of the next object to be identified. I can and will post additional views of the object if requested or if it looks like they might be needed. So.... here is the first object to identify.

Maybe it could be used for that, but that's not what it's primary purpose is.

and actually there is a common part missing from the photo, one that should not affect the identification, but that I took off to use for some other device. If you have a picture of the object with the missing part and happen to be the one who first identifies this one, maybe you can post a pic with the missing part included.
Remeber, additional views are available if someone feels they are needed. Aslan is not a Tame Lion

Well, it is a multi-function tool, but all the tools are for one Primary Purpose. There's a big hint related to that in all the pictures.

No. If it had been I bet cavediver would have jumped all over it. I will tell you that it is NOT specifically related to diving though it might be able to be used for some diving related task.
Would it help if I provided pictures of another tool that is related to the primary function of this tool (though admitedly on a different scale)? Aslan is not a Tame Lion

Very good. It is a Line Clipper, used to snip the end of line, the U shaped end to help remove hooks, the slot is used to straighten hooks or leader, the small pointed awl to open the eyes of hooks or hollow center lead shot, the knife for cutting line or opening split lead shot.
Now it's up to you to post the next "What in the World?" Aslan is not a Tame Lion

But I will call "Thread starter's prerogative" and since you don't have a pic, I'll post another.
Now right up front I'll say this is a knife, but one with a very special purpose. Answering a KNIFE will not be sufficient. The answer has to identify the Primary Purpose or function of the knife. Here is the first picture.

I kinda expected you to jump on the first one right off the bat. LOL
Bet you knew which part of it was missing too? Don't remember what I used the lanyard for, but I'm sure it was a good use. And as to the second picture: You're WRONG!!!!!!!! Maybe a second view of the object will help?

No, but might be usefull for them suckers but a pry bar, one about 6 feet long is probably better for that.
Here's another view to help.
Remember, it is related to the first object although the scale is different. Aslan is not a Tame Lion
