BTW: I just remembered. The Bible says that God has mass of Chariots: about "twice Ten Thousand" (20,000) and "thousands of thousands" (Psalms 68:17) These seem to be the same charoits that the spirit horses where riding in 2 Kings. I'll have to do some more in depth study of the psalm, but if it refers to these Chariots literally, then the Horses in 2 Kings riding them seem very well literal Horses, but of a spirit kind.

Re: yes..no...maybe.
Hey there
This discussion is mostly about if animals have souls according to theology and critical thinking. Now Atheists Agnostics in the majority of them probably dont believe in souls, since they have no belief in the supernatural. If that someone's belief, then that is something that I cannot debate (I dont think there is a science of souls, or "Soulology" LOL )but from the Biblical evidence I can. But there is no way that the Non-religious and the religious could do a proper discussion on this together. One will base their views primarily on religious faith and the text of that faith (in this case the Bible) while the other one will base his or her beliefs on strictly science and critical thinking. It is two different dimensions.
I be back.

Hello Ifen
By soul, I mean the supernatural essence of a living thing that lives on after death. Insects I believe have them, and I see nothing wrong with bacteria having them as well. Plants i'm not so sure, since they dont have the "Breath of life" like humans and animals do, which is believed by some to be "soul" (Reference will be posted soon)
Dont have time to debate now. Papers and reports to turn in and all at college. I'll see if I can reply again after semester.
peace

This is the source which shows that some do think that the "Breath of life" is the immortal soul: Zondervan's pictorial Bible Dictionary, page 807 under "soul". Bible references are included to show this (Genesis 7:15) Genesis 1:30 also shows that the "Breath of life" belongs to animals as well as man.
Hope I helped

CHIRP!!
Hey Chirp
Micro organisms are not mentioned in the creation narrative, though they could be placed under "Creeping things" (Genesis 1:24,25,30)If so, they would have the "Breath of life". Plants are never mentioned as having the "Breath of life" in the Bible. Some might think that the "Breath of life" might be Oxygen, since animals and humans breathe in oxygen in and carbon dioxide out, while plants breathe in carbon dioxide and breathe out oxygen. But that would be reading too much into the text, and although God divinely inspired the written word (Christains like myself believe as such)he wrote it through ancient people who did not know advanced mordern science. The Bible is not a science book.
nice to talk with you again chirp

Why ask a scientific question about a theological concept?

actually, this is a miscellaneous topics in CvE thread on a CvE forum. Creation VS Evolution cannot be discussed just using science, since it involves both natural science and theological concepts. I already said that this is a question about the supernatural, not science. This is about souls, which are known in theological books, yet void in natural science, becuase natural science an the supernatural are totally different beasts (Stephen Jay Gould's NOMA I believe applies here)
I already told someone else about this in this thread. Sorry, but you cant debunk souls scientifically since it is a supernatural concept, outside of natural science.

It went somwhere a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away LOL.
I was involved in this topic for a while, but I had to get out. I love animals very much and if I get into a heated debate with a bunch of people on the opposite fence it might get a little to heated. One on one would be okay, but not a free-for-all involving thirty people. Plus i'm in a verbal slug-fest with Ringo on another topic. I might stop that one and try to start a one-on-one about this topic (I tried about the Nephilim. No takers yet .
It is interesting to see people of different faith and people of no faith discuss this topic though.
