Re: Evolution in a nutshell
I would be loathe to promote a thread which esentially has 3 seperate opening posts in it. Gregor has provided one interesting analysis of entropy's role in evolution and seperate accounts of 2 differnt computational/ mathematical approaches which reflect the power of random factors to generate information. Any of these might eventually be a workable topic but togther as they are they just produce an overly broad and unfocused topic.
If Gregor were to focus on one of these, especially his message 6 as I think there is a very suitable topic there, it could be promoted but as it is the impetus needs to be from Gregor to narrow down his focus if an OP is to emerge. Gaining his contribution to the site could be just as, if not more, readily achieved by his actually posting on something other than his own PNT thread.
A change in title might help but on its own presents no sort of remedy.
TTFN,
AW

Hominid Missing Link is Australo- not Homo-

Beg to differ oh great moose.
The thread you directed me to had an intermediate between homo erectus and homo sapiens.
This one is between Australopithicus afarensis (Lucy) and Ardipithecus ramidus, and in the species called Australopithicus amensis.
Yes the location is roughly the same -- that is what adds to the importance of this discovery, as it shows the lineage of ancestry in the same place.

While I agree it could be distilled down somewhat, there is nothing in the rules specifically prohibiting posts that qualify the OP, that attempt to clarify, or provide background for, the OP. My beef is, no one other than admin can communicate with him while his OP is 'in limbo'. Without reply access, no member, however so inclined, can assist him with focusing his obviously relevant commentary and insight.

I understand where you are coming from, but this hardly seems to constitute justification for disallowing promotion of his topic.
I started a thread here the first time I ever posted.

New topic proposed: NEPHILIM....
Hey guys. I have proposed a new topic to debate who or what the Nephilim where, and other things about them (Me: Nephilim where angel/human hybrid giants) If you want to debate, let the administrator know. But read the rules for the debate that I made, and the who idea of the debate on "NEPHILIM mYsteries" thread on the Proposed topics forum before you join.

Re: Robinrohan's odds of god
Just a question: How do you promote a topic? I already posted one on the proposed topics forum, and even posted aboutit on two different threads (including this one) I thought I was promoting it.

BTW: My topic is about three things.
1. Who where the Nephilim (primordial Giants of Genesis 6:4, which I will argue where angel/human hybrids)
2. Who where the "Sons of God" (Fathers of the Nephilim, whom I will argue where in reality angels.)
3. Could a race of Giants possibly come about (evolution, Biology, Physics, archeology, Paleontology, anything will do on that particular topic for the possibility of Giants. I'll show evidence that they did exist, and still exist.)
This is what it will be about. I'll debate with one or two fellas, but 2 will be the limit. No saying "Mythology and nothing but" Just try to explain what the Nephilim cxould have been, could have ben based on, and if races or species of giant humans could have existed or could still exist today. If you dont believe the Nephilim where real, that is okay. But dont just say "Mythology" and try to debate me just on if the Nephilim where real or not. Just give a view on who or what the Nephilim where, who the sons of God where, and if it is possible for Giant human races or species to have existed or could still exist.
Anybody interested?

Re: Robinrohan's odds of god
Different meaning of "promote".
It is "promote" as in "move the message from the proposal stage to a discussion forum". It is not "promote" in the sense of "advertise".
A topic is promoted by an administrator or moderator. Your NEPHILIM mYsteries is still waiting as a proposal, to see if somebody will respond with an interest in debating you on that topic.

If the topic was promoted, I might take a shot or two (and I've been known to keep shooting as long as anything moves. )
But I barely keep to the Forum Guidelines. I'm not interested in any external rules like, "You can't say this or that." If it's mythical, I'm gonna say it's mythical.
If that's not allowed, I'll be part of the deafening silence.

I would reply concerning the upper limit of human size as someone with a degree in engineering.

LudoRephaim wanted a one-on-one (or one on two) debate. We would put that in The Great Debate, and give the debaters some flexibility in following guidelines.

LudoRephaim wanted a one-on-one (or one on two) debate. We would put that in Forum The Great Debate, and give the debaters some flexibility in following guidelines.
i noticed i got called out. brenna alerted me -- you might have noticed that i've been take a little time off the internet. i have two great debates that i've kind of left hanging (and should probably get back to). so i can't really promise any huge degree of participation.
the debate wouldn't go very far to begin with. there is little to nothing in the bible to say, for instance, what exactly the nephilim are. all we have are interpretations and traditions. so at best, one side will claim "so and so read it this way" and the other will counter with "yes, but the bible doesn't say that."
ludo can then point to goliat, and say "he's a giant" and we can say "earlier manuscripts are less exagerated." and then we can run in circles for a bit and not really get anywhere. it'd be kinda like the leviatan posts -- a few good points on either side, but no real way to come to a consensus because there just isn't enough information in the text.
i'm not especially interested in a great debate, but if it gets promoted i'm likely to make a post or two. i suggest opening it up as a normal thread, if ludo's ok with that. as with the leviatan posts, it was pretty much 1-on-1 or 1-on-2 anyways.
