AdminNWR writes: That's because PAF has disappeared into thin air. This "feature" has been fixed. If you give me information about the user in PAF I should be able to straighten it out. One of the new features of the board is that member names are no longer case sensitive. This means there's no longer a "percy" account, and [Dan's clever alias] and [Dan's Clever Alias] are now merged together. I tried to find all the name collisions, but I might have missed some, and this member might be affected by this.

AdminNWR writes: Incidently, the profile information no longer has a visible password. So how does an administrator help a person who is having password problems, and can't get mail from the site that tells him the password. (Note, this is a hypothetical, since it isn't the problem in this particular case). Forgot to answer this question. As a security measure, member's passwords are no longer available to moderators. When a member forgets his password, edit his profile and change his password to anything of your choice and save the change, then email the user the temporary password you assigned him. When he logs in he can change it to something else.

Poot, Seems I'm back to a plain old member again. I will miss the power....
And you didnt like my colour scheme? PS also not getting Session, page, and current time in top right. (FF 1.5.0.3, XP pro SP2) All things being equal, It's time to tip the scales... Ohnhai http://www.ohnhai.com http://www.thewildmachines.com

Several others have reported this. It only affects some people. It might be browser dependent, or depend on whether you allow javascript.
The simple fix is to set your profile timezone to using the boards time zone.

I am getting them, with the same browser. I did manually delete all cookies, then login again. I'm not sure if that made a difference.

i tried the above suggestion and it worked. in case you want to narrow it down though, i have firefox 1.0.7 and i don't know that i have java disabled, but i don't know that it works so well for me. maybe when i'm not under the influence someone could help me work on that.

Re-freshed the page and they came back, so I did a test (edit, relpy and genreply) but in all of these screens the times were still there.
If it's an intermittant bug then it's an odd one.

As an experiment, I tried a different computer where I had used evcforum before the change but not since.
Sure enough, it did not show the time. I tried the various things I have suggested, such as deleting cookies. The time still did not show. I then edited my profile to switch to board time. Now the times showed.I then edited my profile again to switch to local time. The times still showed. There is apparently something flaky going on that causes times to not display, but which is corrected by switching times to board then back to local. Perhaps an initial cookie setting is wrong, and the double switching causes the cookie to be updated to the correct value. Incidently, this is with mozilla 1.4 on solaris.

on a simmilar note, post #230 of this thread was my first post on the main forum since the update.
That first post was posted at 12:05pm (Melbourne local) I have not logged out but my Session time is showing as starting at 12:39pm (which is roughly when I refreshed the page.)

You are logged out after 30 minutes of apparent inactivity (I think). Then when you next do something you are logged back in using values from cookies.
Maybe sitting idle for 30 minutes fixes the time problem. I tried yet another computer, and had no problems on that one. It's the gremlins.

There seems to be no link to EvC home (the static non-discussion pages)in the main menue at the top of the page. Such a link is usefull for those like me who only have book marks for the Forum and only visit the main page sporadically.

Hey...
I'm having the same issue. Tried the advice...cleared cookies, then switched to board tine - which worked, altho' of course in a different time zone from me... then switched to user time zone - and it went blank again. Using FF 1.5.0.3 on win98. Incidently, getting same error msgs in javascript console as bob gray. Tho' i can use the board's time zone...it is a small inconvenienceone gets used to little comforts.
