Since the 60s?s
There was always sin, there will always be sin, but there was never sin in this country before the sixties on the scale there has been since, with popular and political support yet, and partly this is because people take a practical view of it instead of a moral view.
Yeah, I can't believe how we actually treat black people like human beings now. I mean, we actually give women equal rights now also. There is oh so much sin now.
Maybe you meant the 1860s, since slavery was abolished then

Re: More evidence of the Failure of Abstinence programs.
The humble attitude would be to consider that even though you personally don't believe it and don't have a way to verify any of it, that those of us who believe in a supernatural realm and a universal supernatural Moral Law might know something you don't, and at least hold out the possibility that you are wrong and we righ
No, that would be the stupid attitude. Why should I consider the possibility of the patently ridiculous?
Here are some facts that are harsh. but true:
- Some people are smarter than others
- Some poeple are more educated than others
- These people tend not to believe in ridiculous bullshit
ABE: Not all opinions are equal. There is a reason that we have experts on subjects....
I just don't understand why you feel you can rant and rave about science when you CLEARLY don't have a clue about what it even is. Most grade schoolers have a better understanding of basic science.
Edited by SuperNintendo Chalmers, : No reason given.

Re: My view confirmed in spades
Ha ha ha ha ha. THAT's the Sexual Freedom Mantra itself. Ha ha. There you have it. Why bother saying anything else? This is the crux of the matter. It's the driving force these days. The abstinence-only people are the only ones who see the handwriting on the wall and hope to head off the coming disaster but there are too few of them and their view is unpopular. {abe: Oh they may be going about it wrong, I don't know as I haven't studied the programs, but the goal is the only one that can save the culture in the long run}
Actually sex is not the problem.... Unprotected sex is the problem.
Unchecked population growth is one of the biggest problems faced by the human race. Abstinence only sex education actually makes population growth problems worse because people don't use contraception as much.
Look at what is happening in Africa. Abstinence based AIDS programs have been an unmitigated disaster and have actually made the problem worse in some areas.

HAHAHAHAHA
The life problems you are describing are way beyond the scope of any sex education program. You needed a personal counselor about a lot more than sex.

Re: My view confirmed in spades
Not ranting at you, just frustrated that the debate seems to get stuck at condoms vs abstinence when there is a world of better options out there.
Holmes, if you are talking about AIDS specifically I might agree with you somewhat.
But I think that unprotected sex is the problem for STDs in general. I mean, people are going to have sex with people and not know what they may or may not be infected with. I think that's just a fact of life.
I read somewhere that some huge percentage (might have been 70%?) of people have HPV, but most don't show symptoms

Re: My view confirmed in spades
i think it's between 1/3 and 1/2 of sexually active people have hpv. but 3 in 4 people with hpv don't have symptoms.
Yeah, maybe that's it.
I know they think that near half (or even more than half) have it but so few exhibit symptoms that it's impossible to tell.
Thanks for the correction
