Let's Bomb Iran!
Brian Unger is guest-hosting MSNBC's Countdown tonight, and he ran a piece of this in a story about the recent revival of protest songs. It's about the funniest parody I've seen in a long time, check it out!

Unger is a gem. I absolutely love him. I think he's a permanent guest host on the show now and Olbermann couldn't possibly have a better backup. You'll get another chance to watch the show at midnight ET or after the Imus show at 9am ET tomorrow.

Hilarious screw-up @ the BBC
Some of you may have seen this already since it hit the web yesterday, but if you've missed it you really need to go watch it.

If you remember, there was a verdict recently in a lawsuit involving copyright issues between Apple Computer's iTunes service and the Beatles' Apple music label.  The BBC had arranged for an expert on internet music downloading named Guy to come on the air and discuss the verdict.  Unfortunately, at that moment in the waiting room there was a young Congolese immigrant job applicant also named Guy, and he too was waiting for an interview.

Watch Guy's face as the interviewer introduces him as an expert.  It's one of the funniest things I think I've ever seen.

The man is a gem, and I hope he gets that job.

Re: Hilarious screw-up @ the BBC
I had to listen very closely in order to tell, but his answer to the question "are you surprised at the verdict?" is, more or less, "well, I'm very surprised you're asking me about that verdict because it's not at all what I was expecting." There's another point in the interview where he tries to throw the woman a clue that she has the wrong Guy, but she never picks up on it.

I agree that he did a wonderful job under the circumstances, and his verbal footwork is amusing. But the absolutely irresistible part is right at the beginning, in the expression on his face at the moment he realizes what has happened.

Re: Hilarious screw-up @ the BBC
I just checked your link, Modulous, and unfortunately it's very dark and difficult to see Guy's face at the best moment. Try this alternate youtube link which is much clearer (at least until it gets taken down).

Anti-Coulterisms
Conservatives hate anyone who isn’t a white, heterosexual fundamentalist.

Conservatives love a good war unless it’s against poverty, disease or human suffering.

The only civil rights conservatives care about are the rights of individuals to own guns and kill abortion doctors.

Conservatives believe that only the poor should have to pay taxes.

Conservatives want you to love Jesus but ignore everything he said.

Conservatives hate blow jobs but love war crimes.

Conservatives talk so much about Islamic fundamentalists because they’re reminded of them every time they look in a mirror.

The only underprivileged kids conservatives care about are the ones who haven’t been born yet.

------------------------------------
DISCLAIMER: I don't really believe any of this. I'm just so sick of seeing that anorexic bitch on TV and I thought this might be a fun way of dealing with it.

Re: Anti-Coulterisms
You're pretty close to accurate with those, Percy. The point - for me at least - was how little intellect or effort goes into doing what she does. You just take the tiniest grain of truth, then grossly distort and exaggerate it in an insulting way.

I don't think there's anything upthread, but we've discussed Coulter here before. Here are a few genuine examples of her "humor":

Whether they are defending the Soviet Union or bleating for Saddam Hussein, liberals are always against America. They are either traitors or idiots, and on the matter of America's self-preservation, the difference is irrelevant. - Treason, p. 16

Liberals hate America, they hate flag-wavers, they hate abortion opponents, they hate all religions except Islam, post 9/11. Even Islamic terrorists don't hate America like liberals do. They don't have the energy. If they had that much energy, they'd have indoor plumbing by now. — Slander, pp. 5–6

My only regret with Timothy McVeigh is he did not go to the New York Times building. - New York Post, August 26, 2002

When contemplating college liberals, you really regret once again that John Walker is not getting the death penalty. We need to execute people like John Walker in order to physically intimidate liberals, by making them realize that they can be killed too. Otherwise they will turn out to be outright traitors. - CPAC convention, February 2002

Liberals hate God. - Indiana University, February 23, 2006

That last one made headlines a few months ago when Coulter's speech started a near riot on the campus.

Re: Democrats trying to be entertainers

Howard Dean and Al Gore does what Ann Coulter is being accused of (by another EvC person).

Can you quote anything that's as vicious and uncaring as the Coulter quotes I posted? Although Dean and Gore both have a gift for hyperbole, I can't remember anything that even approaches the McVeigh quote from either of them.

Al Franken and Bill Mahr can be outrageous, but still I can't think of anything from them that's as completely mean-spirited. Maybe it's a matter of perspective, but to express regret that one group of people was killed rather than another by a terrorist or that one's opponent hates God as a way of making a political joke shows a purity of hatred that I think is unmatched by any other best-selling pundit. I could be wrong.

The Chaser's War On Everything
This is a hoot! It's a popular TV show in Australia, kind of like what you might get if The Daily Show were hosted by the geeks at Attack Of The Show. There are three segments of TCWOE in the linked video; the first one about a heightened terror alert at public landmarks is the funniest. The last one about recruitment at Australia's intelligence service is also hilarious.

The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson
This classic bit features Johnny with Dom DeLuise and Burt Reynolds in a remarkably homo-erotic food fight. I don't know the date but I remember the show. It's from the late 70s. The video quality is good.
