Re: Relative "believisms"
How does one define a particular word I wonder? With other words no doubt. Very circular that.
hahahaha, but no... that's not circular reasoning.
It's actually a hierarchical system.

Re: Eyes wide shut
I can show someone with sight a red object and we can agree it's red.
You can show someone who is able to see, what you consider red and they will consider it the same way. Assuming of course that they have been brought up to consider red in the same way that you have been (it's a hierarchial thing)
Just like me and Faith can compare notes

Re: Relative "believisms"
There is actually an answer to that question... but I'm probably not fit to explain it as it's pretty complicated. I read this whole book on linguistics much and I don't remember exactly how to explain it. (it has to do with the evolution of language).
But you do pose a good question. If you are ever interested I'd be willing to contribute to a thread about it
Cheers

No, it's different.
You and faith compring notes is more like two friends discussing their opinions of a book or a movie. It's a very subjective thing.

You are absolutely right. Atheism is a belief.
Just like the belief that gravity exists. That the sun will rise tomorrow. That there are no invisible fairies living up my rectum. That F=ma.That there is an exterior reality etc.
Basically we cannot be sure of any knowledge, so an statement on ontology must be based on belief.
Now do you have a point with the trivial fact?
I dont believe in Krishna, invisible pink unicorns, gnomes, big pink bapy gods circling mars, and since yu now have been introduced to all these concepts you now are a believer in the non existanse of all these thngs, I just use the same metering stick on the many christian gods, and believe in none of them, you choose otherwise.

Everyone is born an Athiest.
quote:
hallelujah.
I assume that this is some kind of attempt at mockery but I confess that I don't understand it's meaning.

A theiest Atheist. Only a tiny gap separates them
Atheist = sinner. "All born athesits" = "All born sinners". The Christian doctrine of original sin finally getting through - even if through a glass darkly - to you.

I was going to make a serious objection, but that's actually quite funny. Nonsense, but funny.

The true mystery of the world is the visible, not the invisible

Damn striaght.
Non-belief in the supernatural is an omisson of action. We learn all kinds of stuff in life and cling to what we like to believe is true.
Unless we rely on evidence we may as well believe in anything.

They belong to the something else camp.
An aside: there is a reality tv show running in the UK called Big Brother - you probably have a version in the States. A few years back there was a not particularily bright girl called Jade in it. She became a little bit famous for her not being that bright.
Shes in the news again. Apparently she went to India and came back saying that she really admired a religion she saw there. The Hare Christians
