Abandon Country!!!
Funny you said that. I'm leaving the country in a few months to go on my polytheistic mission to third world countries. I haven't had any luck in this country so far to convince people that there are actually many gods rather than one all powerful god. I figured that it'll be much easier to indoctrinate third world people of my polytheistic beliefs.
PS - Is it just me or Faith's posts are filled with hate?

Poly...the word that evokes a sense of the synthetic

Whilst I wouldn't wish you any success in this I would hope you have a safe journey.

Sometimes despair, frustration, anguish and an intolerance for lies comes across that way. Hate? I don't believe so in the least

There isn't a shred of hate. And I wonder if your remark is about that emotion anyway. I've come to believe it's a formula that people apply to certain ideas, and has nothing whatever to do with the attitude of hate. It's just a definition, a label that political correctness slapped on certain ways of thinking it opposes. In fact I think it's a clever ploy, a way of poisoning the well against certain ideas to prevent people from taking them seriously.
What do you think?

I suppose it's a matter of perspective. The 'live and let live' part of my conscience prevents me from seeing your view as anything but hate. At best, I can agree to disagree with you.

Haha. Actually, I'll be leaving the country for some humanitarian stuff that has nothing to do with religion. That was just a joke on my part.

Nah. Where I'm going, I'll be dodging bullets and having diarhea everyday for the next thousand days. Perfectly safe by my standard.

Care to explain more on this?

Re: Hopefully not too far off Topic
Again, not true. Nothing in Science is a problem for Christians, only for some subset cult of Christianity.
Also, those things are only problems for cult christians who don't understand science.
I have yet to meet one person (here or in real life) who has even a basic understanding of science who disowns it.

I supppose the best way to explain it would be to ask you for some evidence of Faith being hateful

it is only possible to those who disagree with her. which seems to be okay with her. i think it's that she assumes that anyone who disagrees with her is incapable of complex thought and aims her beam very liberally (both meanings please). of course that we might be offended is our own fault and not her intent whatsoever.

Jewish overreaction to Nazism
Yeah, the Jews really blew that whole "holocaust" thing way outta proportion.
Oh, and there is no hate in Faith's posts.

And ask our esteemed panel, Why are we alive? And here's how they replied:
You're what happens when two substances collide
And by all accounts you really should have died."

I agree. Why let a little thing like attempted genocide spoil your outlook on things? I am sure Faith would have had no problem with "camp" life at Dachau. Maybe she could have organized a glee club to keep spirits up eh?

Faith's lack of hatred
Faith writes:

So Faith, are you now saying you don't hate Islam?
I think it wouldn't take much effort to dig up some quotes of yours that might cast doubt on this assertion.

Re: Faith's lack of hatred
Good point EZ. We missed an essential adjective here. Whether Faiths hatred is righteous or unrighteous. The word 'Hate' is usually associated with the latter.
Faith hates lies. This is true.

Re: Faith's lack of hatred
iano writes:

But then it becomes more subjective. Faith considers some things to be lies that are true. Evolutionary theory, for example.
I would go so far as to say that Faith probably considers any evidence, theory or idea that contradicts anything in the bible to be a lie. So how are we to believe that she might not, in fact, be consumed with hatred ? What would limit it?
ABE: I would not say that I 'hate' lies, but rather that they are just something inevitable in the world that we will always have to ferret out.
However, those willfully promoting lies *while fully aware of the truth* are deserving of some greater level of despise.

Re: Faith's lack of hatred
I would not characterize Faith's posting behavior as "hate". I think it better fits "mob psychology", where in this case the fundamentalists constitute the mob.

Re: Faith's lack of hatred
No, I agree with you.
And I don't want to seem like I am singling out Faith or implying any fundamental hatred on her part.
It just that saying you only 'hate lies' doesn't really say much and is very dependent on what you happen to consider to be 'lies'.
I would go further and say that hatred implies a strong emotional response that is only rightly directed toward *someone* and not *something*. You can't hate an idea or a statement because it happens to be false, or even someone who unknowingly parrots them, but you can hate someone who promotes such ideas knowing they are false.
