What did Guido Arbia do?
Might I ask what Guido did to deserve a suspension of several days? I can't find a notice anywhere except the popup when I hover my mouse over the suspension icon.
The kid's fourteen (or so he says), so I wonder what he could have said to bring down the wrath of the admins upon him. What can a fourteen-year-old say to a grownup that upsets them so? Amazing...
Have the admins considered that several days of suspension is like a lifetime for a teenager? I wouldn't be surprised if we never see him again. And that's a pity, because I think he was on the right track.
If I knew what he did, I could decide whether or not to plea for the lifting of his suspension, even though I'm not sure the admins would honour it.

Re: What did Guido Arbia do?
Sorry, but for his sake I don't believe I should go into that. I hope that he will learn from this experience. I too hope that when he does return, or continues his life, he will remain on the right track.

Well, if you don't want to tell me, could you at least explain why he is suspended from posting in the forums when he did something in chat mode? Could he not simply have been suspended from the chatroom or something?

To make a firm impression, as of a mountain falling on him.
AbE: I will say that this was not the first warning, or even the first sanction. Lesser sanctions had been tried and were not working.

A "firm impression"? As in "flattening to a squishy pulp"?
Honestly, I think you (or whoever suspended him) are overreacting. He's fourteen, for God's sake! What is he going to think of this place?
    Don't answer that.

    Hi Parasomnium,
I think we all share your concern for the well-being of someone who is a young and impressionable 14. The moderator team understands that to provide no details is to invite speculation, but I think that is best in this case. I know this is very unsatisfying, but it would be appreciated if the issue could just drop. Guido Arbia will be back on Saturday, and I'm sure we all hope that his experience here will be a positive one in his life.

    no true christian
message 180 in the hatred constitution thread.
I agree that Christians should identify false beliefs, and yours qualify as false.
another unevidenced claim of religious superiority. admins, really. i'm tired of seeing this. of all the crap you can accuse evos or 'heathen christians' or atheists of, you can't accuse them of proclaiming that someone isn't atheist or christian or evo enough. why do faith and iano and other christians get to make these claims?
    it's almost ALWAYS off-topic, it's not respectful, it's dishonest, and it's unsupported.

    omni here's the PM stuff.
I do know about PMs, brenna (don't tell the other admins, but I've been seeing other forums).
The bit about you going off-topic in PM exchanges was meant to parody the intrusions into private lives we see advocated in this thread.
cause i didn't feel like doing it over there and here seems good.
i think some of us like to chat and don't always catch each other online and in the chatroom. the pm would be a good way to alert someone to a topic you think he would appreciate, to send someone a message you maybe don't want to disturb a topic with (like this discussion maybe), or to generally check on someone.

    Gosh, so would I!
There's something little-red-hen-ish about this, but fortunately for me having a long list of interesting programming tasks is like a chocoholic being given the keys to the chocolate factory.
Unfortunately for everyone else there's only one of me. If people want features delivered sooner then I'll need help. Skill set needed is HTML, Javascript, PHP and MySQL. Perl and a little CGI familiarity is good, too.

I fear my coding days are long gone, Percy.
Having advanced through the ranks, I now do such important tasks as telling people how to print that report and asking them why they didn't note what the error message said before they unplugged their PC in frustration.
While I sometimes dream of filling multidimensional arrays, I am content with my sunset gig: I sometimes glance through old code with amazement that I once woke up in the wee hours to type in a fix or outline a new direction.
The Little Red Hen, eh? Having done all the work herself, she had every right to eat it herself, but a one-man forum would get mighty lonely...
PM me if there's anything else I can do to help.

    300 post limit
Isn't the old issue of corruption fixed with the newer software? So why are we still closing threads when they hit this limit?
