Showcase Forum Issues and Requests

The Showcase forum and John's current discussion is indeed interesting, and if possible, I would like to request to be able to comment there. I understand I would not exactly be for or against the OP concepts altogether in John's thread, but the concepts and his theory are very intriguing on their own, and in general it seems that forum overall might be particularly conducive to real exchange and discussion.

Well, I think part of it is the limited topics in Showcase. I proposes a Showcase topic, but it wasn't supported for here, or actually it was posted here and then removed.The truth is there are topics I'd like to propose and debate here if I knew how. The one time I tried, it was removed from here. I don't view it as shameful to post here, and in fact think it could serve as a place to keep shameful and how can I say it, ignorant or less capable debaters, off the thread where they tend to foul up the potential for good discussion.Edited by randman, : No reason given.

It's funny but the truth is JAD's comments were basically not oppossed by the evos. The silence was telling, as iano also noted. So your comments are rather bizarre.

Hey, I can post over here. Didn't know that. Mitchell, I asked that the whole thread be moved but also kept over there so that there are 2 threads that can diverge from that point. The reason is that there are a few others that I was talking with as well, and that way, the thread can progress in both forums. You may not realize this, but I was particularly interested and glad to see your thread as it is a topic I have brought up quite a bit here, and with little support for some of the common ideas you and I agreed on thus far (I realize we disagree as well).

Just let it be moved over and we can request that anyone that wants have permission to post. I suspect there will be the same level of responses.Btw, I think you are right, if I am hearing you correctly, on the reaction to physics and metaphysics. In fact, imo, the evo community has not really adjusted to the implications of QM, but then again, very few have. I once suggested a possible ID mechanism within QM, but we can discuss it over at Showcase.The good news with all this controversy is truly objectionable posters can be booted off the thread, but there will still be more of a wide-ranging discussion without moderation. If it doesn't work, you can bring the topic back over to the general forum, but let's see if we can make it work. Parasomnium and cavediver seemed like they would participate. It's a subject of immense significance as far as science.

Anyone trying to force evos to stick to discussing evolution only and the data and facts is hounded by the evos here, accussed of trying to hide in debate, and even the mods sometimes will go as far as to ban people for doing that. It's unbelievable, but the evos here see no problem with demanding that you offer up creationist theories on any thread criticizing mainstream evolutionism. it's weird, but that's where these guys are on this forum.Oh, and of course, if you do offer up alternatives, you will be dismissed as offering something not scientific a priori. Nevertheless, evos don't generally see the hypocrisy of their approach.

Actually, that's not it at all. The criticism of mainsteam evo models have nothing to do at all with incredulity, and everything to do with real facts and data contradicting evolutionary theories.Furthermore, it really doesn't matter if there is an alternative theory that is viable or not. If the current theory doesn't explain the facts and it does not, it is wrong. Simple as that.

admin percy, per the rules of Showcase as I understand them, I would like to request Dr Adequate be removed from posting privileges on my threads there. I have tried to engage him constructively, and imo, he is simply fouling up a potential good discussion with others by avoiding the substantive points on the thread and appears to wish to denigrate the level of discourse to personal attacks and smears, which I admit I engaged back at him, but at this juncture, most of his posts, imo, appear to be a dodge and weave.I am sure someone else may see it differently, but being Showcase, I have no interest and I am sure you do not either, debating the point.Everyone else thus far is still welcome to debate on the thread with me.

ekman, one reason to continue showcase is that the it offers the opportunity for reasonable discussion. On my thread thus far, WK and some others, though I vehmently disagree with, at least offer reasonable discussion and debate. it was quite clear Dr Adequate was not interested in that sort of approach. It's not that Dr Adequate has some sort of giant intellect, more so than other evos, or anything like that, as if he is feared, but it's really not worth my time wasting on someone like him.There was no running from hard questions on my part, but rather his pointed dodge, imo, of the issues raised. At some point, it is not worth it. Hopefully some other evos will want a civil discussion based on the facts and analysis of differing views.

You showed an unwillingness to debate the facts and the issues and despite repeatedly being warned, you continued to foul up the thread with nonsense. Hopefully, some other evos want to discuss facts and analysis in a civil manner with those that have differing views, and hopefully, unlike you, they will possess an intellect able to at least see the points being raised by the other side, something you seemed totally incapable of, and as such, it was hopeless keeping you on the thread.

Ok.One request. I am interested in serious debate and serious debate only in the Showcase forum. I don't want Omni posting there, nor some others that in the past haven't shown, in my opinion, a seriousness about the debate and willingness to refrain from substance free posts of insults. Insult if you want, but if one offers no substance it's a waste of time.I don't want to run down a list, although I would prefer Crash nor Paulk ever be granted privileges to post on my threads, but would like to OK who posts on my threads in advance. As you know, the disbelievers in evo models are a great minority here. I feel there are some evos interested in real discussion and want to limit the discussion to those that are, at least imo.Just to give you an example of the sort of poster that doesn't belong on the thread, if someone feels the Showcase is somehow a sign of denigration, I really don't want to waste time with such types. They are not interested in real debate and won't offer substance in their posts. I do think there can be real discussion with some, however.Thanks.
