I'd like authorization to participate in the showcase threads. In particular I want to ask Dr. Davison for details on how to test the semi-meiotic hypothesis. As he has been known to say (paraphased from memory) "There are two kinds of evolutionary hypotheses - those that have been tested and failed and those that have yet to be tested. The prescribed evolutionary hypothesis is among the latter." I wish to know in as much detail as he can provide how to test the PEH.
I may have subsequent questions for Dr. Davison or other showcase luminaries in the future.

Don't you believe evolution is unscientific and basically agree with Herepton's position? What would there be to debate?
What are you talking about? I was just playing devil's advocate.
Personally, I have no say on whether evolution is scientific or not since it isn't my field. However, what I can say is I know enough of my discipline to know how much training it takes to become a biologist. So, in this area I would say I trust biologists more than religious zealots.
Herepton's whole premise seemed to have been that since things appeared to be designed it must not have come about by a blind process, and since evolution is blind... you get the point. I would like to point out some obvious strawman (unintentional or not) as well as some systems we find in nature that are non-directional yet appeared to be designed.

I'm primarily going by Message 171:
rgb writes:
I guess what I'm trying to say in too many words is that the reason the theory is not scientific is because too much of it is conjectured rather than formulated from direct evidence.
Maybe another moderator is more familiar with your views. I'm just trying to make sure the discussion has both a pro and and a con.

And this is accurate how?

Does my previous post not mean anything at all?
Added by edit.
Well, I guess you're just looking for a straight forward answer. My straight forward answer is I absolutely do not agree with Herepton's view at all. Does that help?

I hereby request access to debate Herepton on his contention that teleology is necessarily implied by organizational complexity.

Re: oppositional stances
This concerns rgb wanting to be part of Herepton's (Ray's) topic.
Does constructively exploring a concept neccessarily require disagreement? Surely you can effectively develop an idea with someone who agrees with your fundamental outlook?
I agree. I think that it would be a good thing to see two or more creationists debate the details of their "theory". This seems to be something VERY rarely done.
Now, if rgb is only going to be taking a "devils advocate" postion, then I think Ray/rgb interaction would be a false debate. But if they do indeed have some differences in position, I say "let them go at it".
It would be a creationist version of something like Quetzal and Mamuthus arguing about some detail(s) in evolution theory.

I finally get where the confusion is. I was taking the devil's advocate position in the thread Admin linked to. IFFFFFFF I ever get the permission to discuss in Herepton's thread, I will NOT be taking a devil's advocate position.
But then again, if you guys really don't want me to participate for whatever reason, consider my request dropped. Never thought I'd have to go through this much trouble!
It's hard for me to find a topic on here that I'm actually interested in discussing with someone. It's even harder for me to find a topic I am (was) this enthusiastic to participate in. Bummer for me :-(
