How's that for covering 1000 years of history in four paragraphs?

Not really on topic, but actually pre-history to being on topic.
{Added by edit: The above sentence is wrong, wrong, wrong. I was thinking that the topic was "In the 20th Century" when it is indeed "Prior to the 20th Century".}
