no way in the applet. You can download a throttle application from the BOINC site, but it sets a limit on ALL apps unless you edit the registry.I would use bob's technique.

Thanks for signing up. But I notice no results have been returned. If you are using the BOINC agent, there was a problem with some firewalls that stopped results from actually getting transmitted. It will show success at your end but never get sent in.If you are having such problems, they have a new version (4.11 I think) that works around the issue. If you are having other problems, maybe someone here can help.Eitherway, we thank you for contributing.

No. And remember that they try to play nice so running both simply means each gets half the CPU time if you are using just one. I tried to test the difference and what I found is that running both reported higher number for Total Run Time each day but fewer results returned. I decided to stop and uninstall the UD app. Since then results are up but Total Run Time down.I saw the same thread you linked to but I think that the key item may be the Project weight line. The others seem to address virtual memory and disk access. Unfortuantely I can't find specifics on what Project Weight really refers to.

No, I haven't. I'm running on a desktop so I haven't had any performance issues yet. Sorry.AbE:actually, I went back and looked and it appears that I set project weight to 60 in the BOINC profiles and made that the default. Unfortunately I do not know when I did that so I cannot tie it to any hard data.Edited by jar, : No reason given.

I'd like to point out that we have also contributed over 16 YEARS of computer time, returned over 14,000 results on four different projects examining Genome Folding, HIV Research and Cancer Research. Team EvC has done great and at the rate we are producing now:Avg. Run Time Per Calendar Day (y: d:h:m:s) 0:021:08:44:10we will add a years worth of calculations about every 17 days.The folk at EvC Never cease to amaze me.

Actually we are coming up on our first anniversary which will be on 11/24. By that time we will have contributed over 22 Years of computer time to research. We will have returned nearly 20,000 results to the different projects we are helping.We sure could use some more help. This is a great project with possible significant outcomes. There are now three projects running. Team members can choose to work on any one or all of the projects. They can also choose to concentrate on just one or two but have the program accept work for others if there is no work available from the prefered one.Folks, this really is a very simple, safe and virtually cost free way to help do science.

To put those statistics in perspective, there are over 13,000 Teams now at World Community Grid.Team EvC ranks 222^nd. in computer time contributed and 240^th. in the number of results returned.EvC has well over 3000 members. If only 5% of our members contributed to the World Community Grid we could contribute so much more.If you look at the list of people who are contributing, one fact pops out.Those contributing are mostly the Atheists and Agnostics. It is the Atheists and Agnostics that are carrying the load with a small spattering of Liberal Christians and general Theists.What IS missing are all the vocal Biblical Christians.Come on all you Christians here at EvC.Here is a chance to actually do something for the least of these instead of simply preaching platitudes.For 2007 let's see if we can get some help from all of you Christians.Join the effort.These are all great projects, projects that may help everyone, Theist, Agnostic and Atheist alike.Let's set a goal of 50 years of computer time generated in 2007 and over 50,000 results returned.It costs nothing.It takes almost no effort on your part.Let's see if during 2007 Team EvC can double what we contributed last year.

Team EvC now ranks #298 out of over 13,000 teams.We rank #222 in Total Run Time and #240 in the number of Results Returned.We have seven members that have contributed over a year of Computer Time each, one that has contributed over 2 years and one member that has contributed over 3 years.But we still only have 43 members out of the over 3000 members here at EvC. Sure, I have had errors, not necessarily that one but ones where I had to abort and so lost results.

Yes and no. On the client end, our computers, I know of no auto-abort setting. Looks like we just need to keep an eye on it.From the other end though, there is a reply deadline on each job. If we do not return a result before that expires the job is sent to another computer and the missed deadline is marked as did not receive.One thing is that there were two scheduled BOINC server outages, and one was on the 10th.There was also a problem with some of the early Cancer and MD jobs. They did not watch scheduling and completion accurately and so they just kept running often showing 150% or 300% completion. Some of these would not upload as they never showed as truly completed.You can read about the checkpoint bug here

Congratulations. We now have ten members that have each contributed a year or more of computer time to the Grid and that's not counting your evil twin.All told EvC has contributed over 37 years of computer number crunch time.It would really be great if by November of this year we could hit the 50 year mark, and if we only had a few more members that would certainly be possible.

Team EvC is coming up on its two year mark in about two months. To date we have returned almost 45,000 results and contributed almost 43 YEARS of computer time.We began with four member on 11/25/2005 and today we have 59 members.Team EvC on the World Community Grid is a great project, it costs nothing and we are currently helping with

• African Climate Modeling
• Research into finding drugs to treat dengue hemorrhagic fever, hepatitis C, West Nile encephalitis, and Yellow fever
• Research into Muscular Dystrophy cures
• Phase 2 of the Human Proteome Folding study
• Fight Aids at Home looking for potential new drugs to help fight and treat aids

One other project we contributed to was on helping to identify a faster method for diagnosing cancer from automated slide analysis.Our Year One results were 22 years of computer time and 20,000 results. We only did slightly better this year, contributing about the same computer time and about 25,000 results.Please consider joining Team EvC. It would be great if we could contribute even more next year. EvC has over 3,000 members while only 59 have signed up to help out on the Grid Project. If we could get just 1 out of 10 EvC members to join and contribute, we could jump from only 59 members to over 300.Will you be one of those ten? Please?
