Re: drags kicking and screaming
Sulphur already rains down from the sky:
link
(bold added by me)
Scientists discovered, and have confirmed, that sulfur dioxide (SO2) and nitrogen oxides (NOx) are the primary causes of acid rain. In the US, About 2/3 of all SO2 and 1/4 of all NOx comes from electric power generation that relies on burning fossil fuels like coal.

Re: Right on, Whisper
quote:
It's all over America, one place at a time pretty much covering the whole nation. You can see it from Katrina, to the interior breadbasket states and from all the coastlines. God's protection on America is being withdrawn exactly as fortold by the prophets of old pertaining to the last days of apostacy before the prophesied soon coming 2nd advent of Jesus to judge and to rule the world in righteousness. The wrath of God is emerging upon the planet and this is only the beginning!
Yawn.
And how many times have we heard this before?

Re: Right on, Whisper
Yeas, and remember the Great Spanish Influenza Epidemic of 1918 that killed 100 million people in one year?
And let's not forget the Black Death, which killed 34 million people over 5 years in the mid fourteenth century. That was fully one third of the population of Europe.
Have the end times been "near" for 600 years?

I would agree that secular thought has greatly contributed to all the problems we face in the world today.
How?

Yes we are in the end times. The very end, as the bible clearly says cannot come before that man of sin, the antichrist comes. Then we are in the last few years.
But the Black Plague and the Influenze Pandemic of 1918 killed so many more people than any illness or war in the last several hundred years.
Deaths from plagues and wars are getting fewer, not more numerous.
How can it be the end times?

1. It's certainly not a joke for the tens of thousands of those folks across the nation and around the world who've become victims of disasterous catastrophes, not to mention all the loved ones of these.
2. The Bible declares a time of God's wrath on the world. It's here! If you're fairly young, regardless of who you are, imo, it will affect you and/or your loved ones sooner or later in a significant way, I'm sorry to say.

We have been seeing less large-scale death from disease, catastrophy and war in recent centuries, not less, buz.

The bad guys were not the missionaries or genuine Christians. Whether you like to call them Christians or not.
But what if they called themselves Christians, and most Christians felt exactly as they did at the time?
Who are you to tell them they were not Christian?
Maybe they were bad Christians, or misguided Christians, but Christians they most certainly were.

Re: More wilfull ignorance.

Most 'Christians' are not missionaries. Most Christians did not sell whiskey to natives or give them smallpox on purpose.
The ones who supported masacres were duped, and wrong in most cases, I would say. Like Bush, and those who support him. The Arabs think it is a "Christian" crusade. I disagree.
The above has nothing to do with what I wrote.
Try again, please.

Is it possible for someone to be a true Christian (ie believe that Christ is the Messiah), yet continually fail to behave in a Christlike manner?

I think so too, but Whisper doesn't, apparently.
