Not sure what the installation problem is, but just to encourage people to try and migrate...
I'm seeing more than a 10% increase in the # of points / hour of run-time that I'm getting since installing the BOINC client. This isn't due to having both core's running--in fact, I should actually DECREASE # points/hour of run-time since the cores do share some resources and having them run simultaneously should make each core run slightly slower.
I'm hoping to see if others are able to install the client and to see if performance improves for you all as well.
AbE: Make that a
20% performance increase. Jumped from 34 points per hour to about 40 now (and that's on average, including all the pre-BOING stats). I expect it'll wash out to about a 25% increase just as far as EFFICIENCY is concerned, let alone the doubling of performance due to doubling run-time (since I'm running dual-core now).
Although my machine is fairly unhappy running at 60C ...
