Tas Walker says it's most likely a natural rock formation.
And with the claim of unidentified "tests" that have not been produced "proving" that it is petrified wood it looks like another Wyatt-style fraud..

haha no, i totally disagree.
wyatt's site looked better, but this fraud is much, much classier. and has better pictures, too!

Didn't you say earlier in the thread it looked like petrified wood?
Regardless, it does look like wooden beams and has tested positive for it. That's all the facts we have now. Do you have evidence those claims are wrong? If so, please produce them.

Do you have evidence those claims are wrong? Where's the pitch?

You have a relevant question?
personally I think another expedition is warranted, but at the same time, I don't think any amount of evidence would ever be enough to satisfy critics, such as some here.

It is a rock outcropping Rand. You can bet that if real evidence is produced it will be just as the original report says; "looks like shale" I think it said in there.
The clearest pictures look exactly like the basalt around here including the iron oxidation on the surfaces. This will, like the others, blow over when no real evidence is produced (we do NOT have a lab report on the material yet) or will prove to be entirely natural. This isn't the first or the last "ark" to be found. The pattern is familiar so you can bet on it being wrong again. Edited by NosyNed, : spelling

I don't think any amount of evidence would ever be enough to satisfy critics, such as some here. Buddy the bible itself states that it was convered within and without in pitch. Just how the hell is that an unreasonable question to ask of what is supposed to be the real ark? I mean if the thing exists then it will stand up to the scrutiny of investiagtion. Edited by sidelined, : No reason given.

What do you think is the yellow material inbetween the black rocks, in this picture?

I'd guess that it's a calcite vein. Which would be consistent with the rock being shale.

I don't know a lot about pitch, but I imagine like any sort of binder, that it would decay over time.
Does pitch petrify?

I imagine like any sort of binder, that it would decay over time. If that is the case then how is it that boards show no gaps wherein the pitch must have been present to seal the joints? Is there no evidence of that much pitch left behind and if not why not?

Well I'm no geologist, but I googled "shale outcrop" and here's what i came up with...
Petrified wood or compacted clay?
