just as an aside (FIO)
Iano writes:

I noticed that over in showcase, JAD has been said:
JAD writes:
There is not a shred of evidence that a God now exists but there is absolutely no doubt that one or more Gods existed in the distant past.
Now I know you have been complaining about the (perceived) silence from the science types on his PE thread but this is a perfect chance for you or another christian to get in there and (with a subject you are knowledgable about) show us how to get a proper debate going in the showcase.

iano
You have all the evidence you want for Gods existance all around you. As plain as the nose on your face. But you chose to believe it is accident or "I don't know".
Gotcha! In order for this statement to be valid you need to present to us the evidence that distinguishes between a world made by God and one in which the progression is without purposeful unfolding.
Evidence is seperate from the belief remember?

I have learned through observation that this topic is a synopsis of the happening of the evc forum. It further illustrates to me the misunderstanding that science will bring people to a meaningful understanding. Science has nothing to do with what is taking place currently in this topic or this sight. It is a search for meanings. Not an understanding of facts but of meanings. We choose to define meaning.
Our choices define us. How do you choose to define yourself? That is what goes on at this forum in a nutshell as I have come to understand it.
"Science" dogma says let me observe. Nothing personal.
That is they key misunderstanding as I have come to understand from my observation. The very disconect that the dogma requires to observe contradicts the conection that is required. I have come to understand that only belief has meaning. Meaning is all that matters. It is why we do everything we choose to do. This is what I have come to understand while I have been here.

Stay on topic - second warning
The topic here is "Has EvC changed your beliefs". It is a simple question, to which you can respond with your experience or comments.
If you are debating, you are likely off topic.
I will be handing out 1 hour suspensions and hiding posts, in case of future topic violations.

Well, thank you so very much!

Not altered at all, actually, other than cropping out my friend Brad who has his arm around me.

Again, thanks.
That photograph was taken in New Orleans at a wedding in March, just a few months before hurricane Katrina, so I would have been 36 in that picture.

No patronising intended.
It would have been patronizing even if I had been 10 years younger, but I'll cut you a little slack just because I'm so delighted to be mistaken for someone so young.
It actually happens to me all the time. Wanna know my secrets?

Yeah, I "missed out" on tanning, smoking, and doing drugs, so now I feel and look 10 years younger than I am.
Of course, because I didn't waste all of the money and time that others chose to, not only do I look 10 years younger than I am, I read a lot, saw a lot of great film, theater, and live music, traveled, learned a lot, ate a hell of a lot of amazing food, etc.etc.etc.

You have a tendency to boast.

How do you know it's a boast?
And besides, you told me "You haven't done anything in your life" in response to my list of "secrets" for how I remain so young-looking.
I provided a list of things I have done in response (as opposed to all of the things I haven't done which appeared on my list), and you call that "boasting".
Whatever, robin. Go pull somebody ele's chain if that's what gets you off.

How do you know it's a boast?
A boast doesn't mean an untruth. It means bragging.
But I must admit I set you up.
But you do tend to brag a bit. Why?

I do not understand. We could do a Great Debate.....
Fair enough. I'd propose a sequential move through Romans 1 to 9 with the doctrine explained and some background thrown in along the way. The gospel in a 300 post nutshell as it were..
There is a difference between "not understanding" the mechanism and "not believing" the arguments made. Say for instance, I said God gave man free will. For the purposes of describing the mechanism that would need to be assumed to be the case - Adam chose freely. If the discussion revolved around whether he had free will or not or whether man has conscience and whether Jesus rose from the dead etc., then there would be little point in going this route - any of those items is a debate in itself - and none of which can be resolved anyway.
This would be more: attempt to explain the mechanism of the gospel as it applies to all, from the faith alone position...and less out and out, position vs. position debate
What do you reckon?

Why "brag"
But you do tend to brag a bit. Why?
Perhaps Schraf just has a healthy ego and an understanding of her strengths. I'd not call what she does bragging at all.
Why do you call it so?

You have a tendency to boast.
You have a tendancy to be rude. No, really. Is there any reason why you feel the need to be so openly insulting, all the time? Combine that with the fact that you almost never actually participate in the debate on evolution and it's not exactly clear what you're here to do, if you think everyone here is such an asshole.
Tell me, RR - is there anyone here at all whom you actually respect? Or is it just that nihilism precludes any possibility of having a positive human relationship?
