i don't think the religious right understands that left and right mean more than "crazy fundies" and "baby killers".
and there is no left in this country. the media is run by rich white guys (generally 'right') who market the "news" to people who will buy it. they don't care about accuracy, they care about making money and pleasing their investors. it just so happens that there is a seedy underbelly of democracy in this country. terrifying i know.
but then there really is no right in this country either. it's getting closer, but it's not really there. we skate just next to each other. i just wish we'd skate just next to each other a little tiny bit more this is the best i can do at the moment. it's not a placement, but a description.

no, it doesn't.
it means socialist, anarchist, or communist.
but then i'd wager there's more than a few who fantasize that democrats are anarchists.
*giggles*

clearly i was not talking about pbs. pbs is an entirely separate entity. it is run i believe by a board and has a federal oversight committee. it is generally a public forum and not so much a single source dispersing information.
but then the only things on pbs are charlie rose, nature and sesame street. that's hardly investigative journalism and biting political punditry.

cause npr is so very leftists *giggles*
npr is run the same way as far as i know, but is a real news source. the biases are different based on the different reporters. anyone who only hears a liberal bias has his head up his ass.

quite so. and i can see why. because people are idiots and instead of judging each story based on the reporter who presents it, they judge the program and the network as a whole. the reporters write their own material. they don't read from a big government aproved script. that's the way it goes. people have different opinions and different biases and they are quite apparent in the writing presented.
but try telling that to most people.

Re: The problem is timidity
it doesn't matter if it's a lie because clearly the president can do anything he wants... that's why we have a constitution, doncha know. to define everything everyone else can do so they don't step on the president's toes.

Re: OK, here's some evidence that the media is biased to the right
clearly there's something wrong with the study. the organization must be biased.
just thought i'd preempt the inevitable.

Re: OK, here's some evidence that the media is biased to the right
technically, liberalism refers to the ideology that individual liberties are superior to (generally) the divine right of kings, more broadly, it refers to any kind of democratic system which involves the common public in the government in any way, shape, or form.
even "american liberalism" refers to 'a broad political and philosophical mindset, favoring liberty, and opposing restrictions on liberty,' which is a traditionally CONSERVATIVE position. "liberals" used to be the ones in support of government restrictions.
