Author | Topic: Poll; theist, atheist or agnostic | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||

There has been some arguing in another thread about whether or not theists outnumber atheists on EvC. Actually I wasn't "arguing"--just not sure. What about agnostics? Can we throw them into the atheist camp for all practical purposes? My position is atheistic.

My position is atheistic. Huh?

None the less, it leaves me disenfranchised Mark down Ringo as agnostic.

Grew up a Christian but have spent the last 40 years as athiest/agnostic. However, in recent weeks, Jar's eloquence has me leaning towards theism. OK, then which is it? If you can't decide, you're agnostic for purposes of this poll.

Whose purposes are those? What makes them practical? Will we have beanie weenies in our camp? You get nothing. Just somebody who can't make up their mind.

*gag* It might be appealing if one likes sentiment.

When should the final submission be? Should place a date on it? Feedback please. Give them a while. It's rather off-putting asking people about their basic beliefs.

Agnostic is the only honest reply I beg your pardon?

Eat your heart out, Pale Hand. Yes, the pictures of flowers are especially impressive.

Granted. Thank you. Now in my view, which admittedly is tentative, nihilism makes the most sense. It is very reasonable. I'm sure you wouldn't disagree with that.

I'll take flowers over the Dead Man's Hand that iano offers. We are talking about truth, not sentiment.

The suspension of belief is painful. Explain, please. I never had any belief to "SUSPEND."

I respect your decision, but I don't think its a sensible belief. If a nihilist is incapable of 'knowing' that 'knowledge' is unattainable, then how does he have the knowledge to 'know' that knowledge is unattainable? That's a non-sequitur. I mean, it sounds like the most impartial belief, but for the reason I listed alone, the logic breaks down. That not my definition of nihilism. I have a special definition.

making one an agnostic Christian atheist This would be rather stretching the meaning of the term "Christian."
