you're right. the global warming thing, it's all just a scare tactic. One designed to get us off of our asses and to do something about it. It looks like the ozone is finally beginning to rebuild (the destruction of which was completely man made). but global warming. let's see, during the age of the dinos, it was all a lot hotter--oceans were a scorching 100 degrees farenhieght. Also, sea levels were a lot higher.
thing is, the earth is in a cooling stage. we are just now getting out of the last ice age. and something tells me that those 15 million people in new york don't want to live underwater. so yeah, the warming's happened before. but not like this. not with man adding to what the volcanos do. we push it out of balance with the addition of industrialism. by 2050, or something like that, new york will be under water--not the tops of the towers, mind you. glad I live a mile high (quick quiz--what's the mile high city, and you know where I live then). But I feel sorry for you, NJ. you're gonna be under water, if I remember where portland is. so, if it's natural, you don't want to stop it. in the process, you lose your home. smooth move. so I take it you don't accept continental drift theory?
because yeah, greenland was once part of pangea. just as all the other continents (and that massive island nation that was once a penal colony--no, not Georgia). do you know how many times earth has been a lush place? The greatest it's ever been was in the carbiniferous period--that's where all our coal comes from. after that, the world pretty much went desert mode, and came back out to tropics mode in the jurassic period. since the dinosaurs, we've been through several ice ages. oh, and about 600 million years ago (not talking about the explosion) there was a global ice age. as in, even the equator had ice floating on top of the ocean. It's still a hypothises as far as I know, but it's a damn good one (they occassionaly run the show on discovery). here's a decent link for te drift theory--includes a animated graphic too. http://www.enchantedlearning.com/...glossary/Contdrift.shtml All a man's knowledge comes from his experiences

yeah, i never did understand why greenland is covered by ice and iceland is covered with green stuff (It does have ice--in the winter, but it's still a lot more green).
if greenland's ice does melt, as least one of the two names will make sense. All a man's knowledge comes from his experiences

Too bad the mini ice age occurred and took my ancestors out of greenland and america. All a man's knowledge comes from his experiences

Of course, where I currently live is in no danger from rising water--just lack of and increased heat. All a man's knowledge comes from his experiences
