Poll; theist, atheist or agnostic

To paraphrase one of jars favorite words, this whole thing is silly.For the record, I am a theist. the way I understood it, a theist believes and is sure of their belief.
An agnostic is unsure or unconvinced yet remains open minded.An atheist has decided that there is no God and rejects theistic absolutes and uncertainties.So...why do the agnostics get to be in the atheist camp? They are a third category.

Hey No Fair! If Crashfrog gets to be an "atheist of course" then I get to be a "Theist, of course!" Its only fair!~And how come nemesis juggernaut gets to be at the top of the darn Theist list!! Why can't I the humblest, most holy and revered Theist of all of us be at the top!*pouts*

well it unofficially looks like EvC clearly has more who are not declared Theists. But what does this prove? People are people.I like debating and discussing spiritual issues with actual thinking people rather than with a bunch of robotic scripture quoters over at TheologyWeb.(Not, you, Nemesis! Your scriptures are very nice! )

Nemesis Juggernaut, you do have some critics (message#237) that have a valid point.Methinks the purpose of the list(s) was to get a clear idea of how many EvC posters fit each category, rather than any inferences that EvC is one giant Lost and Found!It is human nature to categorize people, and as long as it is not done in any sort of prejudicial manner, I see no harm in it.I think that we are all agnostics in a way, though---in that we do not know anything beyond our internal belief and choice within our hearts and minds.

Im not so sure! My idea of a theist is defined as someone who believes in God (or gods, I suppose ) to the extent that they believe that God imagined/created us before we as a species imagined/conceptualized Him (or her).My idea of an atheist is someone who simply doesnt consider the idea of God (or gods, Easter Bunnies, I.P.U.'s or Santa Claus) on a level worthy of belief. Atheists don't so much deny God as ignore or reject the idea as archaic.My idea of an agnostic is someone who has never met or felt or realized the existance of God yet who remains open to the idea---in that IF God is knowable, the ball is surely in Gods court! The definition of a deist, however, strikes me as concluding that God is an accepted concept within the parameters of human wisdom and that God is not mysterious or supernatural. The fact that Deists by definition base the origin of the concept of God within the human mind gives me cause to label them outside of strict theistic belief, which would see God (gods) as independant of human thought, reasoning, or definition.

I hesitate to be the one doing the categorizing.

Lemme get this straight. In regards to the Christian God, to me, means that God is Spirit, is alive today and incarnated through Jesus Christ. You say that you definitely don't acknowledge that! Yet...any other gods means what? Gosh, Legend...you sure did add to the confusion! and please don't bring up the I.P.U., Loki the trickster, or that darn spaghetti monster!
