Questions
Jar:
Do you believe that miracles can and have happened ?
If not, then how can anyone trust the Bible since the book is loaded with reports of miracles ?

Personally? Yes I believe that miracles have and do happen.
If not, then how can anyone trust the Bible since the book is loaded with reports of miracles ?
Well, even if the whole Bible is no more than tales told around the campfire the message is still of value.

Re: TEists/Jar belong to Satan
It's a funny thing Ray but you know when I read your "freak" comment the first thing that occured to me was that Christians that take your position of extreme literalism are the modern equivalents of the NT Pharisees.
You are following along the exact same path that the Pharisees did 2000 years ago. You pour through scriptures, taking a literalist reading of them, and then claim that the important thing is about following the laws that you come up with which includes that everything in the Bible is to be read literally.
The Bible is to be read for the timeless spiritual truths that are found there. It is God's revelation to us and you minimalize its message by insisting that it is to be read literally instead of trying to comprehend the spiritual message that can be found in its many metaphors. It is a message of love not the condemnation that you are engaging in right now. Jesus said that everything hinges on love of God and love of neighbour. IMHO I'm not seeing either in your posts in this thread.
This commentary says the Bible is not true. It is a reply that completely evades my previous post showing how the Bible is true.
The evasion proves Darwinists are not loyal to evidence, but are in the business of misrepresenting all evidence that contradicts the needs of their atheistic theory.
Greg's subjective and sourceless opinions prove that if you want accurate information about the Bible: do not consult a Darwinist/atheist.

How about an example ?
Well, even if the whole Bible is no more than tales told around the campfire the message is still of value.
What is the central message of the Bible ?

Re: Questions
Here is the second half. It's just like the first half.
Loving GOD is done by loving others as you love yourself.

Re: Questions
Herepton asked:
What is the central message of the Bible?
Jar answered in the words of Yeshua:
Love GOD and love others as you love yourself.
Herepton quoted only the first part the statement--
Love GOD....
--then asked:
How do you love Someone who is invisible and cannot be touched ?
It is interesting that Herepton edited the statement before asking the question.
'Love God, and love others as you love yourself.' Yeshua and his followers always taught that the second part of that statement has everything to do with the first part. Herepton removed the words that answered the question before asking it.
Those who say, ”I love God’, and hate their brothers or sisters, are liars; for those who do not love a brother or sister whom they have seen, cannot love God whom they have not seen.

"As" in this passage means "in the same way."

Re: Questions
IMHO the other thing that must be emphasized is that the Second Commandment is a two parter. Before you can love others you must first love yourself. Until you can honestly handle that part, look at yourself, recognizing what you have done right, what you have done wrong, how you might do better, you cannot love others.
Christianity is simple, it is not easy. Folk like the fundie televangelists such as Gene Scott, Pat Robertson, Jerry Falwell and all the other salvation for hire snake-oil salesmen seem to missunderstand everything Jesus said. It's not the show. It's not dramatic. It's not even notable or important.
Loving GOD is not profession, not even belief, it is the summation of all the little things you are and do. Loving GOD is an action, a continuing practice. It is listening to a child tell you about his day or helping someone reach a package on the shelf or unload their shopping cart or laughing when your child first discovers jokes or bringing in the neighbors trash can. It's nothing big, nothing important, nothing of any real merit.
It really is that simple.

Herepton writes:

This is the thing about literalists. If one doesn't agree with their specific view, which in essence makes a deity out of the Bible, I'm not a Christian.
I am convinced of the truth of the fact that Jesus was/is God incarnate, that He died on the cross and was resurrected. I'm also convinced that I have had a life changing experience of the Holy Spirit.
In Ray's view that all counts for nothing but as long as I take it on faith that the the Bible is to be taken as literal truth, (and how many literalists can actually agree as to what the Bible literally says anyway), then I could call myself a Christian.
Go figure.

Everybody is entitled to my opinion.
