Water Water everywhere, yet not a drop to drink!
Drilling a hole in the side of the ark below the waterline strikes me as an elegant solution.
I don't think drinking sea water would be very beneficial.
Brian.

Re: You laugh at you know not what
There is absolutely no doubt that the dinosaur fossils are evidence of the flood as in fact all the fossils over the earth are evidence of the flood.
If this is true, why is it that there isn't a single science department in any high school or university that teach this?
There may be no doubt in you mind, but history and archaeology has shown the Flood to be a myth.
Brian.

Re: You laugh at you know not what
Denial I'm sure. It's obviously true, Brian, the fossils themselves prove the Flood. Denial is the only way to explain why it isn't recognized, and that has to be because 150-200 years ago somebody decided that there was no flood and that things have been the same forever, and nobody is willing or able to question this received wisdom except us creationists.
But, Faith, it is some conspiracy theory! EVERY science department doesn't take the flood seriously there must be some evidence against it. Scientists cannot just say something is untrue, they need to produce evidence to support their theories, or else they'd be picked apart by other scientists.
That's the myth. They've shown nothing of the kind. They just decided long ago that it's a myth because they liked the idea of assuming that the fossils evolved from each other up that stack of disparate sediments that they laughably labeled eras in time.
I didn't mention science here because i'm not a scientist, but archaeology and history has shown the flood to be a myth. many cultures hav an unbroken history that goes right through the date of the flood. Take the Egyptians as an example, they have a continuous history right through the flood period and their structures (e.g. great pyramid) has no water erosion.
Anyway, why would scientists want to deny the flood if it is so obvious? We do have Christian and Jewish scientists don't we?
Brian.

Re: Water Water everywhere, yet not a drop to drink!
I didn't say it rained sea water, but the water from the seas must have mixed in with all the fresh water as the entire earth was flooded.
Your 'layer of fresh water' on top of the seas is falsified by the biblical texts that claim undersea fountains gushed water as well.
I have some beautiful tropical fish that take quite a bit of looking after, God knows where Naoh got all the aquariums, airpumps, filters, to keep these babies alive.

I think we have to assume that God made sure some sea life survived without the ark.
Not very scientific though is it?
From a scientific viewpoint, wouldn't an explanatory hypothesis be required to be falsifiable?
Brian.

Query about figures.
Hi CK,
Do you know if Woodmorappe took into consideration that there were 7 of all the clean animals and it was only the unclean that had 2 of each kind?
Genesis 7:2 Take with you seven of every kind of clean animal, a male and its mate, and two of every kind of unclean animal, a male and its mate
More problematic is the fact that a literal translation of Genesis 7:2 actually states that Noah took 14 of each clean animal on to the Ark.
of all the clean beasts thou dost take to thee seven pairs, a male and its female; and of the beasts which are not clean two, a male and its female (Young's Literal Translation)
The English Standard Version also has seven pairs, as does The Message, The Amplified Bible, The New Living Translation, The Contemporary English Version, The Holman Christian Standard Bible, and the Revised Standard Version.
I wonder if the author has considered the larger amount of animals given in these Bibles?
Brian.

Re: shake, rattle & troll
Yeah, when I saw the bit about suspended animation in glaciers my Troll Alert Meter started glowing orange.
Whatever (one of johnny boy's aliases) is an infamous troll. He has been banned upteen times from here.
Things must be quiet around here because he is getting bites from people who know better.
I reckon ol John can get a whole 300 posts out of this fishing trip!
Brian.
