In Message 3 Faith asks:
How would you know what "animals, plants, spores and pollen" were "contemporary with Adam" anyway?
That seems like an interesting topic. Since this year is 5767, just what animals, plants, spores, pollen and other things were common at that time?
What was the world like at the time of 5767 years ago?
What was life like for the folk in the Americas?
What civilizations had grown and fallen?
What were the trees of the period, the plants?
What were people growing?
What animals had been domesticated?
What technologies were prominent?
What was clothing like?
How about housing and shelter?
What about towns and villages?
How large was the world population at that time?
Edited by jar, : make it clear that we are discussing the actualy state of the Earth 5767 years ago.

Re: What forum?
Not coffeehouse -- this is to do with the main ideas of the site.
Miscellaneous? Don't like that either. Think harder.

Weighing In
It looks like a science topic, Nosy. Archeology, anthropology, ecology, etc. In the absence of a catch-all science forum outside of Bio Evo, the only option appears to be Misc Topics

Re: What forum?
This will work! I was thinking Dates and dating...the topic is a stand-alone topic without any of the Biblical references, except the dates.
Anyway...lets see what develops.

What was the world like at the time of 5767 years ago?
Probably beautiful, green, luxuriant with trees and fruits and growing things, all one continent, mild climate. One couple of human beings in a garden, and a lot of animals.
What was life like for the folk in the Americas?
They were still "in the loins of" Adam as scripture would put it. Didn't get to the Americas until oh a few hundred years after the flood at least. The Americas did not yet exist either. The continents didn't separate until after the flood.
What civilizations had grown and fallen?
none
What were the trees of the period, the plants?
Dunno. Perhaps the fossil record gives a clue. Whatever is fossilized in ALL the strata from top to bottom was on earth before the flood.
What were people growing?
Well, Adam and Eve were tending the garden in Eden, but they didn't become farmers until they were expelled therefrom.
What animals had been domesticated?
They were probably all tame with human beings but not what you'd call "domesticated." This was the very beginning you know, the very beginning of the creation.
What technologies were prominent?
Probably didn't have any, but I don't know.
What was clothing like?
They were naked, remember?
How about housing and shelter?
Doubt they needed any, the natural conditions being paradisical, but it is not said in any case
What about towns and villages?
Are you sure you don't mean to be asking about a time AFTER 5767? But I would guess that anything before the flood perished in the flood. No reason to think anything survived. So how would you be able to find such settlements to find out?
How large was the world population at that time?
2 (Two)
But within even a hundred years it could have grown quite a bit, and within 500 dramatically. If A&E had 30 or 50 children and each of those had that many (they had hundreds of years of vigorous life in those years), 2 million in four generations (100 years? or were they older before they procreated in those days?), 72 million in five generations, at an average of 30 offspring each, and on it goes.
But I suppose this isn't "scientific" and this is a Capital S Science thread so I will now exit and let you all play to your heart's content.

its sad that you can fabricate from whole cloth the idea that the bible talks about plate techtonics, it says nations, not continents!
But within even a hundred years it could have grown quite a bit, and within 500 dramatically. If A&E had 30 or 50 children and each of those had that many (they had hundreds of years of vigorous life in those years), 2 million in four generations (100 years? or were they older before they procreated in those days?), 72 million in five generations, at an average of 30 offspring each, and on it goes.
yes and you still don't have a clue about how populations grow, and i doubt they had that many children
But I suppose this isn't "scientific" and this is a Capital S Science thread so I will now exit and let you all play to your heart's content.
then why bring your, myths in a science thread if you can't even support it?
i could say this is all wrong and odin and his brothers created midgaurd long befor then
