Then why should anyone place any value on such an afterlife? Why even worry about it? Our memories are an essential part of what make us us. In your scenario, I would not pass to an afterlife, but rather some metaphysical essence or something. Seems rather pointless to me.

Does the bible mention our memories? On the offchance that it's right, I'd like to know if I should expect to remember better times when i'm in hell. =\
