Archer optitrex - OP Evolution of Creationism
Author: Archer Optitrex
Forum: Education - Evolution/Creationism
Thread: Evolution of Creationism
Post: 1 (help - how do I link this????)
Best opening post I have seen. A different take on the usual area of debate introduced in an irreverent, humorous and well thought out way. Kinda funky.

Re: Archer optitrex - OP Evolution of Creationism
It's good. And it really hits on some of the hypocrisy. But if you really want to see a good OP, check out RAZD's geology thread (all three of them have the same OP--they're just continuations from previous ones that hit the 300 post mark). They're massive, which is the one draw back. But it thoroughly refutes YECist claims.
(i guess this is a halfway seconding . . .)
oh, and the name's Archer Opterix. of course, I just call him Robin Hood.

Seconded--I knew I could depend on nwr for clarity.
Still, a complete theory of cognition would have been nice.

You can start a thread on that, and try to draw it out from me.
There's a caveat. I have found that when you think outside the box, those inside the box have great difficulty understanding you.

Ashes to ashes, dust to dust. There's nothing degrading about being a part of the universe. Feel lucky to be alive and understand that a universe stretching across millions of light years and filled with countless billions of stars need not necessarily revolve around the yearnings of humankind.
My first nomination. I don't know if a nomination from me means all that much, if anything at all, but your post, to me, was profound and concise. A true pleasure. Thank you.

Mr October
Thanks, Straggler and kuresu. I'm truly honored by the mention, coming from friends whose posts I enjoy so much. But I have to stand down for RAZD.
The guy with the goofy avatar is doing such a consistently superb job that I can't possibly cite a single post. I have to point to whole threads: 'Human/Chimpanzee' 'Brain evolution.' His tone is cordial and welcoming. At the same time he is always on message. He won't be drawn into rhetorical games, he knows the subject, and he is absolutely ruthless about matters of fact. He writes with clarity and good humor.
These threads have called up some fine writing, too, from Crashfrog, Percy and others. I always learn a lot (and get great entertainment value) from Omni and NWR and Modulus and Wounded King. We have many fine posts to consider.
But RAZD has my vote for Mr October. He has run off with the boards this month.

Re: Mr October
Seconded.
RAZD's energy, attention to detail, and powers of rational insight are apparently inexhaustible. Few members do anywhere near as much heavy lifting.
I have to be especially outraged or indignant to conjure up the kind of effort that RAZD expends routinely. Even then, I'm as likely to end up suspending myself as to write a strong post.
Tip o' the hat, Mr. RAZD.
