Yeah, 350 came much later. I had a 190SL, wanted a real 300SL, had a 220S and a host of other cars. The 300 was replaced by the 230 when they changed bodystyles along about 63 or so.BUTrepairs on a 23 year old Merc can easily equal the cost of a new car, and they are not all that pleasant to drive anyway.

My first car was a 1950 Chevy, six cylinder coupe. Shift linkage was a little worn. Every once in awhile they would pop out of the socket and you would have to stop, pop the hood and reassemble the linkage.
