Re: How far does consent go?
In the sex-ed class I took a few years ago, we watched a video about two high school students who met at a party, got drunk, and had sex. The girl said she was raped and the boy was expelled (maybe more, I don't remember). The sex-ed teacher flat out told us that when two drunk people have sex, whoever comes out first saying "I was raped" is the one who wins the rape trial. The boy in the scenario could just as easily say he was raped as the girl, but she said it first so she wins.

There is a thread for discussing mod action
Sometimes it feels like I'm writing in a foreign language or something. I am fairly sure I said:
Most of you know already, but discussion of this action should be directed to the relevant thread in my signature.
And crash, having been here for three years you are well aware that there is a relevant thread for discussing these issues. I'm suspending you for 24 hours for ignoring moderator instructions, I'm charitably ignoring the continuing off topic posts you (and everyone else) were warned about, merely rendering them invisible. If it continues the next suspension will be longer.
Attention Participants
Since my previous message went so quickly unheeded, I am closing the thread while everyone chills out. If you want to discuss the ins and outs of rape itself, create a new thread on it. If you want to discuss the topic presented in the OP, you may do so when the thread opens up again. My apologies to Brenna for letting her thread get to this state.
In case anybody is remotely confused by the accepted procedure for discussing (positively or negatively) the moderator action in this thread...click this link
Thank you for reading, and once again my apologies for the disruption.

The thread is reopen for business
After a twenty hour hiatus, I've decided to reopen it.
The topic at hand is whether or not internet porn reduces rape. The topic is not whether or not rape laws are adequate, or open to abuse. The topic is not what technicality would or would not be rape. It is about internet pornography reduces rape with a side issue of whether or not violent movies reduce violent crimes (for a period of time).
I'm watching the thread, and I'm feeling particularly merciless. You were warned - but enjoy the thread, it's an interesting topic that deserves to be open for discussion.
