Hovind busted, finally

The Pensacola News Journal site is kind of weird. Though many of the links to old articles about Hovind still work, you can't find them through the site's search facility.Anyway, I was checking to see if there was any new news about Hovind and found this much more human article about the end of the trial, also apparently from the Pensacola News Journal, and one that if it was posted here in this thread that I somehow missed: Kent Hovind, ”Dr. Dino,’ guilty on all counts. Yes, unbelievably so. I almost feel guilty. But I pay my income taxes, I pay my property taxes, and when we put an addition on the house we filed for permits and the work was inspected several times. I tell the truth not as I see it but as I have actually verified it to best of my ability. When I'm wrong and I'm corrected I don't continue repeating my errors. I have still not been able to find out if anything will be done to protect his employees. While it mentions confiscating $430,000.00 (honestly, how many members at EvC could have $430,000.00 confiscated? If they tried that with me a figure closer to $430.00 might, depending on the time of the month, be possible.), it doesn't say anything about the income tax liability or FICA payments and contributions that his employees are liable for.If, like good citizens they each declared their cash payments and paid taxes on them the employees will have no outstanding liabilities, but if not, those folk too will face paying back taxes and penalties. But even more than that, what Hovind INC did hurt their futures. By not paying into their Social Security accounts he has reduced their potential retirement possibilities.The amount in the charges was $845,000 in employee-related taxes. That is employees only. The $430,000.00 that was ordered confiscated, even if collected, is still not enough to cover those employee related taxes.

I wonder where all the "liberal, anti-Christian" media and populace are? Shouldn't we be out there screaming for him to rot in prison? Shouldn't my local "extreme liberal" newspaper (the NY Times) be calling for his head for daring to be a Christian and a creationist at the same time? I mean, he is a martyr for the cause, is he not? A big-profile case involving a poor, trod upon truth speaker? Or is it just a small profile, tax evasion case involving a con man who wants to dupe people and also get their money while avoiding taxes to line his pockets even more.I make my money by working hard. I pay my taxes (even tho I do not agree where some of these taxes go) because it means I get to work every day on the subway or, when I lived in an area with little public transportation, that I can drive to work on decent roads or that I have a cheap avenue to fight against (some) unscrupulous landlords or that I can get health care for a reasonable price without health insurance (but, "god help me" if I have an emergency) due to grants to community health services and universities or that my nieces and nephews get a good education or that I can go back to school and get a new degree without having to put in 20 hour days of school and work.I know (and lament the fact that) these issues are of little concern to many in this country.But, I pay my taxes to support this war that I do not support, I pay my taxes to support HUGE factory farms and HUGE energy conglomerates, and HUGE corporations and (now under Pres. Bush, HUGE religious organizations) that I do not feel have any more right to "their money" than I do, especially when I am the one breaking my back to make them their money. But, I pay my goddamn taxes as well as help out my "fellow man" out of my own pocket because I know that charity our of the goodness of our hearts only goes so far. Usually as far as our "hearts" allow.Our government probably spent more prosecuting this sorry excuse for a Christian than they will get out of him and I am saddened by that. If he wasn't so concerned about saving people's souls from the devil's evolution, he might have helped save some people from hell on earth.

These gentlemen traveled the then 48 states to verify that fact. So in a very real sense the income tax isn't legal, as many have proclaimed, but try not paying it and see how far you get before the Feds come after you and confiscate everything you own.Error 404 Page Not Found

It is the courts that get to decide if income tax is legal or not based on these kinds of objections.Guess what they decided?
