The answer is D: Refraction occurs when light waves are bent. I remember it by thinking that Snell's law of refraction is all about bending angles. In Dawkins' book The Ancestor's Tale, he pretty confidentally states that plants could live without fungi; though the context of his statement was more about how rubbish animals and fungi are compared to plants, rather than him trying to prove a point about how plants live.
