Re: God-Man in Tom the Dancing Bug
Chiro, without making an ass of myself again, could you explain why that's funny?

Re: God-Man in Tom the Dancing Bug
God himself (represented by God-Man) explaining why it is silly to believe in Santa:
You actually believe in a powerful white-haired man with supernatural powers who knows you, loves you, and grants you wishes if you're good?!
Sounds to me like a transparent lie, to keep you in line! How childish of you to believe in that.
God-Man himself is a powerful white-haired man with supernatural powers who knows people, loves them, and grants them wishes if they're good (and represents a character that many in real life believe to be fictitious). The irony is killing me!
Added by edit:
It occurred to me that you didn't like my last contribution to this thread, either. Maybe you should just ignore my contribution.

Ramoss,
That was pretty funny and very true. I do not mind people believing in their faith as long as they are open to other magesteriums.
Sincerely,
Anne C. McGuire

Oh no, don't get me wrong. I love your contributions. It's just that I grew up inside a cage so sometimes I require a little explanation to understand a joke. I'm slow.

Chiroptera, you replied to yourself with a message about a character scoffing at belief in another character such as himself.
Then you edited it to tell yourself to just ignore yourself.
Way too meta.
Funny, though.
AbE: I thought the God-Man bit was funny, too.

Ah, now I understand. My apologies, gasby. Now I see why you didn't appreciate Apocamon. You have to be pretty familiar with North American Protestant eschatology, and even then you might not find it as funny as someone who actually lived fundamentalist. It is possible that as a former Baptists fundamentalist I will find things funny that others may not.
I apologize for my rudeness.

Re: God-Man in Tom the Dancing Bug
Here's the thing, I grew up fundy. I guess you'd have to be more than a former fundy to understand those jokes.
Anyway, don't worry about it. What can a bat do to a tazmanian devil?
On the subject, here's a joke I recently came across.
A Christmas Story for people having a bad day....
When four of Santa's elves got sick, and the trainee elves did not produce the toys as fast as the regular ones, Santa was beginning to feel the pressure of being behind schedule.
Then Mrs. Claus told Santa that her Mom was coming to visit. This stressed Santa even more.
When he went to harness the reindeer, he found that three of them were about to give birth and two had jumped the fence and were out, heaven knows where. More stress.
Then when he began to load the sleigh one of the boards cracked, and the toy bag fell to the ground and scattered the toys.
So, frustrated, Santa went into the house for a cup of apple cider and a shot of rum. When he went to the cupboard he discovered that the elves had hidden the liquor, and there was nothing to drink. In his frustration he accidentally dropped the cider pot, and it broke into hundreds of little pieces all over the kitchen floor. He went to get the broom and found that mice had eaten the straw end of the broom.
Just then the doorbell rang, and irritable Santa trudged to the door. He opened the door and there was a little angel with a great big Christmas tree.
The angel said very cheerfully, "Merry Christmas, Santa. Isn't it a lovely day? I have a beautiful tree for you. Where would you like me to stick it?"
And so began the tradition of the little angel on top of the Christmas tree.

Season Greetings
got this in an email:
quote:
For My Democrat Friends :
Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit, my best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low-stress, non-addictive, gender-neutral celebration of the winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, or secular practices of your choice, with respect for the religious/secular persuasion and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all. I also wish you a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2007, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make America great. Not to imply th at America is necessarily greater than any other country nor the only America in the Western Hemisphere . Also, this wish is made without regard to the race, creed, color, age, physical ability, religious faith or sexual preference of the wishee.
By accepting these greetings, you are accepting the aforementioned terms as stated. This greeting is not subject to clarification or withdrawal. It is freely transferable with no alteration to the original greeting. It implies no promise by the wisher to actually implement any of the wishes for herself/himself/others, and is void where prohibited by law and is revocable at the sole discretion of the wisher. This wish is warranted to perform as expected within the usual application of good tidings for a period of one year or until the issuance of a subsequent holiday greeting, whichever comes first, and warranty is limited to replacement of this wish or issuance of a new wish at the sole discretion of the wish.
For My Republican Friends:
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
