Creationists Versus Gravity
I think this is a joke.

Here.

Please, either convince me that this is a joke or just do the humane thing and smother me while I sleep.

Edited by Dr Adequate, : No reason given.

Re: Season Greetings
Again, I have to wonder if that is a vicious yet effective satire on the delusions of right-wing nutjobs, or whether it's actually a right-wing nutjob making a feeble attempt at satirizing the left.

I'm English, so we don't have right-wing nutjobs like you Yanks do. Explain it to me.

Down With Daniel Dennett!
One of the poems from my book ... for those of you who like alliteration.

Down With Daniel Dennett!

“I find Daniel Dennett’s attempts to quine qualia utterly ridiculous.” — Anonymous internet poster.

To quantify or qualify
quintessence (quasi-physical)
or quibble of such quiddities
is quirkish, quaint and quizzical.
You cannot quine a qualium —
who queries this quodlibet,
unquestioned by the quorums
and the queues of the quickwitted,
quoth I, is queer and quarrelsome —
so quell such talk and quit it!

So down with Daniel Dennett!
Damn his devilish designs!
There’s no question that a qualium
is not a thing one quines.

You may quote him in quadruple
from his quartos (without equal):
how quales may be quined must be
sequestered in the sequel.
So quote me quite unqualified:
those quacks who quine their qualia,
like that dummy Daniel Dennett,
are all damned and doomed to failure.
In despite of Daniel Dennett,
I’ll be darned if I can see
any way to quine a qualium,
qua quale. Q … ED.

Down with Dr. Daniel Dennett!
Damn his dark deceitful mind!
The question’s quite quotidian,
and quales can’t be quined.

Re: Creationists Versus Gravity
well, there's a local gag paper called the onion that ran a story similar to this--kansas verses gravity.

I'm hoping they'll float away.

unfortunately, I do think this post is real, and not a joke.

"local gag paper?"

The Onion is a, now, internationally distributed news satire paper originally produced at University of Wisconsin Madison

Christmas falsehoods.
...or whether it's actually a right-wing nutjob making a feeble attempt at satirizing the left.

But you do have pretentious bigots who think (a) they are the only ones to celebrate a certain holiday and (b) that anyone who doesn't celebrate it is not one of them.

ie that there are no non-christian republicans and no christian democrats

thus insulting friend and foe alike.

I find the whole christian "war on christmas" issue highly amusing, seeing as the holiday has nothing to do with christ in the slightest EXCEPT by absconding with a pagan holiday and PASTING some arbitrary celebration on top of it.

Re: Season Greetings
Explain it to me.

It was just some stupid/funny email that was getting passed around. I don't really know what the story behind the war on christmas thingy is but I let you know what I think it is.

I think some leftwing nutjob bitched about getting wished a Merry Christmas from a greeter at Wal*Mart (IIRC, it coulda been another store) because the whiny little bitch wasn't christian and didn't want to hear it. So, Wal*Mart's (or whatever store) respons is to not allow the greeters to wish people Merry Christmas, it has to be Happy Holidays, or something along those lines that isn't specific to any religion.

That's pretty fuckin' retarded in my opinion.

With all this be-careful-not-to-offend-anyone crapola catching on, the season's greetings is changing in a step in the direction of the one to the democrats in the email I quoted.

whether it's actually a right-wing nutjob making a feeble attempt at satirizing the left.

I'd guess it was this one.

Its ambiguous as to whether you think all right-wingers are nutjobs or just this one in particular...

While his satire was a little to over-exagerated, I don't see what was so feeble about it. Maybe that it wasn't very funny?

I'm English, so we don't have right-wing nutjobs like you Yanks do.

But you got the left-wing nutjobs over there? They're spreading like cancer over here... :D

You forgot to include the part where Walmart got boycotted by right wing nutjobs for the christmas thing and again for being gay friendly. I don't recall the last time left wing nutjobs boycotted an organization for saying merry christmas.

Yeah, having good manners IS a bunch of crapola.

I say, if people aren't Christian, they should just suck it up.

Don't they realize that the United States of America is a CHRISTIAN NATION?
