Anyone else here love soccer?

I never paid much attention to soccer until I watched the world cup earlier this year (or was it last year?) And saw a video that showed the skills of Ronaldino. The man has enormous talent! However, it was not enough for the Brazilian squad as they lost.

I enjoy playing it, but for me its really boring to watch. Not always. Every now and then there are some good matches. But mostly I just like watching the highlights on SportsCenter. Soccer has always been around in the US. If most Americans play it, its generally in their youth when its played. From about 6-14 years old. Then there is the option to play in high school. As far as how it is predominantly viewed, it doesn't have a very good reception. A lot of Americans look down on it as being, as you said, "a girl's sport." Its not nearly as big as American football, basketball, baseball, or hockey, but it is finally increasing in popularity. Pretty much the only time you can watch soccer/football in the States is either when the World Cup is televised or on Telemundo spanish television where we get to hear the boisterous commentating and exclamatory remarks like, "Gooooooooooooooooooal! Goooooooooooooooooal! Columbia, gooooooooooal!"

I completly take your point, mate I was talking as one who knows next to nothing about American Football, really and have no real dislike of it.I was just in a silly mood doing a bit of US bashing .Have a great new year too, buddy.

Football (soccer) is great, the best game on the planet. I also like american football and have been a Dolphins fan since the days of schula, marino, duper and clayton.Don't watch it as much now though. Dolphins aren't doing to well I can watch almost any football (soccer) match and enjoy it, doesn't really apply to NFL though, it does have to be a dolphins game to perk my interest.And, yeah, NFL is like rugby for kids...Edited by melatonin, : No reason given.
