Re: Why you are restricted, again.
There are several creationist websites that I was a member of where I was respectful and polite but have been IP banned from since I dared disagree.
I am glad you finally recognize the obvious nature of my permament restriction.
The only reason they banned you is because you conveyed arguments that they deemed too difficult to refute.
You have been a member here for over 3 years, yet you are still posting 2,780 posts later. Might I make a suggestion? Either find a board where there moderators are neither creationists nor evolutionists or find a board with no moderation (EvolutionIsDead seems quiet on moderation), or go to a creationist board.
This is a compliment and an admission that my arguments are too damaging to your opinions - thats why you want me to go away. You are so angry and unable to obtain discussion satisfaction through intellect that this drives you to create Moderator issues to get your satisfaction.
My overall point is that permanent restriction indicates rage caused by the inability to refute. The logic is invulnerable since you are a Darwinist and I am a Creationist.
Ray

The issue is why are we permanently restricted?

In your case Ray it is due to your tendency to go off topic, to insult other members and generally break the forum rules.
You guys need to get your story straight. Below is the Showcase Forum description:
"This forum hosts those with the most controversial or unusual viewpoints, giving them an opportunity to showcase their ideas in discussion with selected EvC Forum members. Featured luminaries are by invitation only. Participation by other EvC Forum members is by request only, and permission to participate can be revoked at any time"
Like I have been saying; the real reason for Showcase is viewpoint and not rule infractions.
And remember that your usage of this board is at 'Darwinists' expense. That is Percy is paying his own money....
You are mistaken: this has never been an issue or in dispute.
You have no rights to free speech here and silencing you here is not illegal in any country. You have been given a voice despite your constant, repeated and frequent insults, off topic posts and generally disruptive behaviour.
Defense of censorship; could we expect anything else from a Darwinist?
Set a restriction expiration date or remain an angry Darwinist who cannot refute.
Ray

Censorship
Permanent restriction of a Creationist by Darwinists is about viewpoint and the inability to refute and the perceived harm the Creationist argument(s) might have on the undecided.
This is invulnerable logic.
No matter how much you attempt to mis-portray the issue to be over rule infractions, objective persons know the real reason is rage caused by the inability to refute.
I only make these posts to point this out and to say I feel complimented that I am censored.
Censorship exists to silence views that harm the status quo view.
I exempt persons like Mick and Crashfrog who have said they oppose my restrictions.

No, that's a retreat into a fantasy world.
No matter how much you attempt to mis-portray the issue to be over rule infractions, objective persons know the real reason is rage caused by the inability to refute.
These "objective persons" who agree with you ... do they actually exist? Who are they? Do you hear their voices talking in your head?
I only make these posts to point this out and to say I feel complimented that I am censored.
Censorship exists to silence views that harm the status quo view.
And yet no-one is censoring your views, which are standard creationist garbage, and which get posted the length and breadth of these forums by people other than you, who can behave more like intelligent adults and less like dung-flinging monkeys.
I exempt persons like Mick and Crashfrog who have said they oppose my restrictions.
You can exempt me, too, I'd love to give your butt a good kicking free from restriction.

You have the time-line backwards.
When your arguments are refuted, you lose your cool and retreat into name-calling, which gets you sanctioned.
If your conduct was exemplary, you might have a case for censorship. As it is, your behaviour stands in the way of your arguments getting the treatment they deserve.

Re: Why you are restricted, again.
Hi Herepton,
I wanted to comment on the description for the Showcase forum:
"This forum hosts those with the most controversial or unusual viewpoints, giving them an opportunity to showcase their ideas in discussion with selected EvC Forum members. Featured luminaries are by invitation only. Participation by other EvC Forum members is by request only, and permission to participate can be revoked at any time"
This is true as far as it goes, but forum descriptions can't run on forever, and this one is already pretty long. What the description doesn't say, partly due to length constraints and partly out of consideration for those restricted to Showcase, is that it is a place for those with the inability and/or unwillingness to follow the Forum Guidelines, but whose viewpoints are so controversial or unusual that many people wish to debate them anyway.
Residents of Showcase are given control over who is permitted to debate with them, and what happened to Randman and John Davison is that they kept requesting that people's Showcase permissions be rescinded until there was finally no one left to debate. I don't think you did this as much, and I'm not sure why your threads aren't more active.
Like the other alternatives that preceded it, Showcase is an imperfect vehicle. It will eventually be replaced.

Re: Why you are restricted, again.
Admin, that's pretty much bull crap and you know it. Very few, basically evos without any intent imo to debate the topic at hand, were requested to be removed.....others who participated have been welcome to continue and generally those welcomed like wk were more knowledgeable and could argue the evo positions better anyway than the posters muddying up the water. Note as well that Mick and I had a decent discussion last night. It was a welcome sight to see an evo that was not sooooo brainwashed that he could read plain English and see what I was talking about with the TO articles, which the likes of PaulK and others defended to death.
I have no wish to discuss issues with people that don't want to admit the sky is blue or what the meaning of is is. I actually thought you would consider it a good thing to restrict the debate to serious posters so the ideas could be discussed.

Just you, Diogenese and Ol' Rabid Ray, trudging down the beach, looking for an honest man and avoiding the mirror...
I oppose the Showcase. I think you should either be banned entirely or allowed full privileges and held to the same standards as every other member.
Of course, that would mean your suspension on an almost daily basis, but that's how you teach infants, toddlers, and delinquents--fair discipline, consistently applied. My understanding from past discussions is that that approach was considered more work that you were worth--in which case you should be banned.

Re: Rationality and "Fervent" Christians (or "Christian, heal thyself!")
arach writes:
creationism is an idea that neccessitates a person ignore a fair percentage of mainstream science, methodological naturalism, and so forth. it's not a coincidence that there is larger degree of overlap between kooks and creationists than between kooks and the general population. in some respects, creationists are kooks because they reject conventional science and rationality in favor of a minority understanding of religion. i don't intend to be derogatory -- at one point galileo was a kook too. being unusual or rejecting the standards of the times has little bearing on whether the argument is true or not.
1. The more secular minded members need to keep in mind that Jesus, John the Baptist, Ezekiel, Elijah, Elisha, the apostles John, Paul, and other Biblical writers would be considered "kooks" if they were here to sign up and participate. What they believed in and participated in is called miracle, which conventional science does not recognize. Thus when Biblical creationists engage in apologetics of these accounts, some notorious secularist counterparts often chide and demean in unison when they should understand that Biblical creationism entails a great deal of miracle involving the spiritual realm of existence, both good and evil. For the most part, eliminate the higher dimension of intelligence as per the Biblical record and you have no debate.
2. Often counterparts in debate accuse Biblical apologists of rejecting what they consider to be empirical evidence repeatedly, instead holding tenaciously to Biblical flood geology, the Genesis record et al. What they should consider is that for creationists unfalsifiable aspects of the Biblical record are corroborated by the falsifiable adding credibility to the record.
3. The ID factor is either disallowed or demeaned in the science debates which leaves the creationist at a disadvantage so far as propagating the creationist viewpoint. IDists are obliged to operate with about half our cylinders firing in science. For example, with flood geology, ID changes the whole senario, requiring a totally different pre-flood atmosphere to account for the water et al. I'm not advocating introduction of ID in the forum so much as I'm advocating some understanding regarding our position by some who tend to insult, demean and chide, charging ignorance and bulligerancy on our part.

Nice apologetics, Buz.
And, true, some people think that you have to whack others with a 2x4 to get their attention before communication can occur.
But "that's bull crap and you know it" is pretty much a charge of lying. I suppose you could call it an accusation of hypocrisy, but there is no essential difference.

Do you see Jesus dredging up Haeckel in every thread regardless of the topic?
Do you see John the Baptist calling everybody who disagreed with him a "Darwinist" regardless of the topic?
Do you see Ezekiel branding all and sundry as liars?
Myself, I see Jesus driving the YEC video-peddlers out of the temple.
If there is a "higher dimension of intelligence", why not demonstrate it instead of a higher level of belligerence?
