Websters-
Absolute 1: Free from imperfection or mixture.
Eternal 1: everlasting; perpetual
Good job, Rob! You just disproved your own claim that "absolute and "eternal" are synonomous. No wonder you don't like to gather evidence for your assertions. All independent evidence probably contradicts you just like this.

Re: Logic 101
Have you ever seen anything perfect here in this universe?
The answer is no... none of it lasts...
An everlasting being of mind or matter, must be free from imperfection.
So we look for the transcendant... the perfect and the everlasting God.
If you really can't see that, then your mind is disfunctional.
Edited by Rob, : oops, i meant imperfection

Says you.
However, supposing that is true, something free from imperfection is not necessarily everlasting.
If you really can't see that, then your mind is disfunctional.
I do see that we as a species look for it because, like you said, nothing lasts and nothing is perfect and death scares us.
The dysfunctional mind, however, is the one that clings to the idea of a supernatural, perfect being, not the one who accepts things as she sees them presented in the evidence and comes to truly realize that nothing lasts forever and that life is fleeting and precious so she better live it to the fullest and help others do the same.

If you ever meet Him you will know otherwise.
The dysfunctional mind, however, is the one that clings to the idea of a supernatural, perfect being, not the one who accepts things as she sees them presented in the evidence and comes to truly realize that nothing lasts forever and that life is fleeting and precious so she better live it to the fullest and help others do the same.
I disagree... the dysfunctional mind is the one who wants to believe that this is all we know, and live it to the full (whatever full means). How could you know you 'can't know', unless you are God?
When you offered by God, not belief and blind faith, but a personal encounter, why would you refuse?
Life is not fleeting, it is absolute. You are going to live forever; not in 'this way', thank God... but His way if you let Him.
If you are right that life is fleeting... then death is absolute.

It is not my idea. Only God could say that... And that is what the bible says. Jesus said, 'Be perfect, as your Father in heaven is perfect.' the whole Bible is about that... righteousness righteousness, righteousness, holy, holy, holy, holy, holy. It's almost nauseating the whole drumming of the same chord. I tried to have it both ways for years, creatign and exploring all sorts of worldviews looking to escape the hound of reality. But He is relentless!
That's why the pharisees hated Him. They thought they were holy (perfect) by doing all the rituals better than anyone else. By maintaining stature within their culture. The cream of the crop! And Jesus told them that without Him (the perfect one) they could not enter heaven.
But the lowly sinners understood. They had not killed their conscious. They knew they were poor (in spirit); Damned! The theif on the cross admitted it in tears at the last moment. He said 'My punishment is just!'
That's all it takes. Just one moment of admitting we deserve death for what we've done... And 'poof!' you get to meet Him. He will accept your sacrifice and run to you and give you strength.
Heaven is perfect, and we must be perfect to get there!
But we're not perfect!
So What do we do?
We need a savior! Fortunately God has taken responsibility for this mess. Will you consider letting Him be God? That is the daily sacrifice... worship God as God, instead of ourselves, and forgive your brothers.
A little humility is all it takes.
You can still be strong, but only in Him! He will give you His strength by imputing the Holy Spirit. You were created to be a soldier. And one with honor. Not just fight, but the good fight.
