This is why I don't donate blood. I figure that if there is such a glut in the blood supply that they can turn down perfectly good donors, then they must not need mine.

But government...is not simply the way we express ourselves collectively but also often the only way we preserve our freedom from private power and its incursions. -- Bill Moyers (quoting John Schwarz)

Actually, they aren't.

Re: Inalienable Rights...from now on, that is.
Hi, Jade.
I have an even better idea. Everyone should just have a dental plan (and a medical plan and an unemployment plan) regardless of who they are living with, or even if they are not living with anyone at all.

Hoot Mon's excuse for being "rational"?
quote:
I was married once to a wiccan. She was straight, but many of the other wiccas in her coven were not.
Yeah, this is going to be relevant to gays in general.
Why don't you title you next post "Hoot Mon's excuse for being a boot"? It'll have as much relevance to the contents, I bet, as this one does.

Well, neither is yours. We're talking about marriage, which is entirely a social construction.

More Hoot Mon rationality!
quote:
Did you know that some gays have claimed Christopher Robin as one of their own.
Wow. This is even less relevant than your post about your experiences with wicca.

Re: Cat food
Heh. You're right. Let's apply a little foresight to this problem:
If we allow gays to get married, then gays will get married.
Maybe hindsight is better:
Well, the anti-miscegenationists were right -- once we allowed mixed race marriages, it was pretty much a given that the homosexuals would want the same rights. What fools we were!
Is this what you had in mind?

Good question.
I dunno. Why didn't the courts begin to protect the rights of black people until the 1950s, even though the main purpose of the 14th amendment (ratified in the 1860s) was explicitly to protect those rights? I bet the answers are similar.
