It is so sad to see so many of you hear gloat over someone else's missfortune.
Do you think that most of the atheists here even care whether Kent paid his taxes or not? Phhuuh. Not in the least. Most of you hear are gloating over his missfortune because of his person. Because you were sick of his "ridiculous" creation theories. That's the root of it, and it's certainly a root of evil. Very sad. Goes to show just how "compassionate" the atheists/evolutionsts truly are as they claim to be. The term "finally" at the end of the topic of this forum really says alot. And it surely doesn't send a pretty message. "Celebrating" over his 10 year sentence? If I were standing in front of you right now, and if I had no fear in a Living God, I would slap you in the face very hard. I just wonder how quick you would be to defend one of your prized evolutionists if they were sent to prison for "tax evasion". Suddenly, the subject of "evolution", "creation", or his personage would be of no consequence, rather, probing for justifications for the so called "tax evasion" would start to rise like no-houdini. A pretense in "patriotism" would arise declaring it "unjust". But because it's "Kent Hovind"....forget it baby!! I pay my taxes, pretty much because we live in a world of corruption, and there really isn't any choice. But that doesn't mean it's legal to pay Federal Income Tax. Would you like to see a video that is taking America by storm? It's called: America: Freedom to FascismError 404 (Not Found)!!1 Now we'll see who's really "busted" in the eyes of justice, though unfortunately those eyes of justice may never again exercise its authority. Link taken from Forbidden I highly suggest you watch the full video on google before responding. It builds up to a lot of shocking things in the middle and near the end that will blow you away. Best wishes. Edited by Lysimachus, : No reason given. Edited by Lysimachus, : No reason given. Edited by Lysimachus, : No reason given. Edited by Lysimachus, : No reason given.

You're right, it's not really about taxes. It's about Hovind being a complete dingbat nutcake. Something had to be done with him. I'm not sure prison is necessarily the right place for him, but unfortunately in this country we put complete dingbat nutcakes in prison. Maybe if we had a better mental health service in this country, but I bet Hovind and his supporters have been all for cutting social welfare spending.
And, yes, he would still be a complete dingbat nutcake if he were supportive of evolution. But government...is not simply the way we express ourselves collectively but also often the only way we preserve our freedom from private power and its incursions. -- Bill Moyers (quoting John Schwarz)

Most of you hear are gloating over his missfortune because of his person. no, it's just interesting to see someone with a totally backwards perspective on reality get effectively schooled on the facts of life.
Because you were sick of his "ridiculous" creation theories. on the contrary. we find them quite amusing. now, aig might have been sick of kent, but he's always good for a laugh in the evolution circles.
That's the root of it, and it's certainly a root of evil. i thought money was the root of all evil? like, say, all that money ken was supposed to pay the government, and didn't.
Very sad. Goes to show just how "compassionate" the atheists/evolutionsts truly are as they claim to be. on the contrary, i think we all feel for his wife, jo, and are glad to hear that she doesn't have to serve time. of course, this seems to be because she has some touch on reality, and was simply suckered by kent's slick salesmanship. you can see in the personal conversations that she understands they committed a crime. kent does not. he is unrepentant.
If I were standing in front of you right now, and if I had no fear in a Living God, I would slap you in the face very hard. and we would turn you the other cheek.
I just wonder how quick you would be to defend one of your prized evolutionists if they were sent to prison for "tax evasion" tax evasion is tax evasion. if you're stupid enough to think you don't have to pay taxes, or that you can get away with it, you deserve what you get. but kent here has a long and well known history of tax evasion, and various other monetary frauds. why are you quick to defend him? he got what anyone else would have gotten.
Suddenly, the subject of "evolution", "creation", or his personage would be of no consequence, rather, probing for justifications for the so called "tax evasion" would start to rise like no-houdini. kent's tax evasion stems from his utter disregard for the real world. it's something that we have recognized for a long time. lie, distort, weasel, and ignore evidence, honesty, and law. kent is a crackpot, even in creationist circles. he is getting punished because he thinks he's better than everyone else, and thinks that laws don't apply to him.
A pretense in "patriotism" would arise declaring it "unjust". But because it's "Kent Hovind"....forget it baby!! it's patriotic to not pay your taxes? what? i don't care HOW you feel about the bush administration, you still have to help fund public services that the government supplies -- like, the police, schools, etc.
I pay my taxes, pretty much because we live in a world of corruption, and there really isn't any choice. But that doesn't mean it's legal to pay Federal Income Tax. in other words, you agree with kent. (but you're not stupid enough to not pay them). look, nobody likes taxes. but you have to pay them. the first article of the constitution of the united states grants the government the power to collect direct taxes. and pollock v. farmers' loan and trust (1895) states that income taxes are to be considered direct taxes. it's absolutely unreasonable to expect to live under the protection of a government, without some way to fund government. without taxes, all you have is anarchy.
America: Freedom to Fascism mussolini defined facism as "the merger between state and corporate powers." under that definition (and i think mussolini would know), the united states is fascist. and if you don't like it, stop electing people that used to head multination corporations.

All the tax evaders I can recall from recent years have been wing-nut white supremacy fascists and evangelicals. No connection, I'm sure.

If I were standing in front of you right now, and if I had no fear in a Living God, I would slap you in the face very hard. Typical fundy Christian. You guys are always so quick to resort to violence. However, it is also another sign of just how ignorant fundy Christians really are. That is NOT something you would be wise to do. Do that and the Living God will be the least of your worries. LOL Aslan is not a Tame Lion

The reason we're here, laughing at the shere idiocy that is Kent Hovind, is not because he's a creationist. It's because he's simply dumb enough to believe his own hoopla. Aside from purporting arguments that have already been shown to be false, he took on the IRS. If there were any branch of the federal government that you didn't want to mess with, it's the IRS, they usually catch up with you.
So, before you go praising Hovind for his valiant stand against the unjust oppressor that is the federal government, you ought to find out the truth to his claims (if there is any, at all). Just as a side note, maybe you shouldn't believe everything you see in a movie. I mean, it makes for great entertainment, but Jurassic Park is not a good source of information on modern genetic engineering. Also, you should probably do some fact-checking on the claims made by that film. If you did, you might find that some things said in it are out and out lies. Evidently some people have a rather unexpected answer. Perhaps you may want to consider rereading the New Testament. I don't remember Hovind being identified as the messiah.

That's precisely why I would not commit to such violence, because that's exactly what Jesus wouldn't do.
I'm telling you how my natural flesh would love to react when provoked. To "celebrate" over someone's missfortune??? Come on now, that's outragous. Not even I would "celebrate" if one of your stuanch evolutionists were sent to jail. Even you know, celebrating over that is simply immoral. We should never delight or "celebrate" in the punishment of any victim, whether they be guilty or whether they be innocent. Now tell you me saw the google video thoroughly. Bet you haven't yet. Just wait till you do.

Jesus said not only to refrain from the above, but if someone else does it to you, turn the other cheek. I'm sorry to see Kent & wife in prison also even though I didn't buy all of his claims. It appears they've found a way to go after these tax protestors who've been dodging the system by using the loopholes. A deceased guy I knew before he died got by for a number of years before his death using a similar risky strategy. BUZSAW B 4 U 2 C Y BUZ SAW ---- Jesus said, "When these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads, for your redemption draws near." Luke 21:28

quote: For your information, I agree with you. The United States has become, in a great degree, "fascist", which in a way, justifies Kent Hovind. I live in America, yes, but I do not vote. I don't vote at all because I personally don't believe in it. If I vote for someone who does evil to this country, I am in a great degree responsible. You're classifying me in the wrong crowd. Hey Buz, nice to see you posting again. I'm simply stating that if I wasn't a Christian, that's what I would be severely tempted to do. I'm trying to emphasize just how provoking their statements can be, that's all. I'm saying that's what I wouldn't do.

and how do you change a fascist state that allows elections? you vote against those fascists.
to bad you're not voting then. your actually giving the fascist voters greater power, becasue their vote carries a greater value. the other option is to move to a liberal country and escape the fascism. you know, like to Sweden.

Lysimachus writes: I don't vote at all because I personally don't believe in it. Yes, you don't vote because you don't believe in, or support, democracy, or the United States, or Western Civilization, or the majority of people who live under such governments. Modern alternatives include Communism, Theocracy (Iran and Saudi Arabia), or fascism. Which one are you supporting in opposition to democracy and Western Civilization? Hint: Hovind also supported the opposition by refusing to support the US government, military, or citizens, in deed as well as word.
