I can't think of any good non-american bands.
I can think of plenty american:
Elliott Smith
Daniel Johnston
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Hendrix
Old Blues players who invented rock
Elvis
It seems like the rest of the world is having a drought for music.
All they have to show for is Led Zeppelin and the Beatles, and they suck.
Everyone knows the beach boys were better than the beatles anyway, they don't have a Brian Wilson...
Where are non american good modern bands and music?
Someone relieve me of my ignorance. Or prove to me that I am right.
(This is all in fun, I actually don't think of people through primitive national lines on a map...)
(This discussion is for 1900 and onward, no classical allowed!!)

Led zeppelin does suck tho, jimmy paige is the most unoriginal and harshly sounding shit guitar i have ever heard. power chord blues... he made the blues cliche with his shitty music.
Shure is has a couple good tunes but wow, most of their stuff is this fake bullshit.... the singer doesnt sing anything real, just fake bullshit like the beatles and the rolling stones,,,
all these british bands are making this copycat crap music, haha so lame!!....!!>>>!>.1

oh and eric clapton adds another notch to that list... the guys is horrible--- lets see how many blues licks i can play with this shiny piece of wood!!
HE IS SO UNORIGINAL HOLY GUACOMOLE
couldnt make any innovation if he tried, its a job for him such a lame guy.
AND BY THE WAY--- I HAVE OBJECTIVELY LISTENED TO ALL OF THESE ALBUMS AND THEN REALIZED THAT THEY ALL SUCKED AND THAT THEY WERE COINCIDENTALLY FROM BRITAIN LOL.
Nothing against britain.
Its not like I have a pride for my country as most music here sucks too... but there aren't any awesome musicians outside of our country it seems

oh, and half of the Hendrix Experience was british. Page (not paige) is somewhat similar to hendrix.
Yeah and what did they do? - next to nothing.
another good british band is Robin Trower (again, blues).
Got his stuff, simple hendrix clone ... no originality whatsoever...
Try Pink Floyd.
Ok, I admit from what I heard they are ok. But the guitar work is too robotic.. and their live shows have a million people onstage so ridiculous.. No, I'll leave them with mediocre, still have to look into sid barrett though..
Deep purple
Steve Morse is possibly the worst guitarist I have ever seen and heard...
Dire Straits
Again, mediocre... Have their stuff.. The guitarist Mark Knopfler was a huge disappointment for me..
Cat Stevens
Over produced music, but I will admit that he was good. But Are you sure he wasn't american?
The Who
Just recently watched their live dvd set from a famous concert when they were in their prime... THEY SUCK! Townshend is the up there with Steve Morse as a horrible guitarist!!!! The who really are just another unoriginal band with not innovative and bad sounds.....
Yes
Saw the stuff on your website and it sucked hard. They are into finger technique,,, not music... They really are horrid... Like Ynwgwie Malmsteen..
Cream (eric clapton is in it)
Cream was disgusting--- another not innovative and cliche crap project of Clapton... Just watched a dvd of theirs as well.. disappointing as usual with clapton.. What a bad person... SO unoriginal that his name should be in the definition webster.

Looks like we are back to square one... These bands are just copies from american music...
None of the bands listed are any good guys, you are really acting silly now...
BTW those metal bands are all the same..
Sabbath was ok, but the lyrics are disgustingly simple minded...
Listen there is no good non american music around anymore.. After the Classical guys (who I hear are good, taking ur word for it) there has been a severe drought in europe at least..
PLEASE SOMEONE PROVE ME WRONG!!

The only thing that Europe has to stand by is one band, who I admit were extraordinary.
The Beatles.

THose bands (Blind Guardian and Theatre) seem like they are "just another metal band" - the names were funny as Blind Guardian used to be called "Satan's Heritage. Sound like they are dumb to me..
Not sure but these guys sound fake and not innovative yet again.

Robin Trower is not simply a Hendrix clone.
Bridge of sighs is a complete copycat record.. Listen again...
You need to listen to the older who--the group from the 60s. right now, thier missing half the group--Entwistle and Moon due to their deaths. Moon's death did to the WHo
That is the Who I have been referring to... "In their prime".... remember?
As to Zep, listen to some of their live stuff. You have four incredibly talented people--their bassist ranks as among the best (not to mention the stuff he could do on the piano. Listen to the song No Quarter, preferably the live version. Bonham the drummer is insane. If you don't like Plant's singing, too bad. He and Page were practically as one--a live version of Dazed and Confused will let you see what Plant did live--there aren't too many singers today who do that. And if you don't like Yes because of their "finger focus", Page doesn't have that. Try looking at the chords in the songs--very few are what you termed "blues power chords". there isn't even such a thing--a power chord is 1,5,8 (optional) of a scale.
The lyrics are completely meaningless drivel... and the guitar is not innovative but just way worse than hendrix ramblings of a fake copy cat con artist...
oh, and we've proved you wrong. Your acceptance of Floyd and Stevens makes your claim moot.
I said Floyd is mediocre with shit live performances, and Stevens was OK, nothing special... I still need to listen to Syd Barrettt.
Again, it seems as if your music choices are completely without innovation or originality... You are listening to recycled garbage my friend, recycled garbage...

Re: Complex Music
You guys all view the best guitarist as being the most technically efficient... LISTEN TO THE SOUND PLEASE!!! THERE IS NOTHING IN THE SPEED OF THE NOTES> WHAT THESE IDIOTS CAN DO WITH A PIECE OF WOOD. I WOULD RATHER WATCH TV.
That is what seems to keep Europe down these days...
All the bands you listed that I know from the UK are UNORIGINAL yet again...
The 2 from US - Zappa and Hendrix - Innovative as hell...

Get Friday Night in San Fransisco with Paco De Lucia and John McLaughlin. Murder by skill.
Yeah, and the music sucks...

Just Face it
None of you have shown me any ORIGINAL or INNOVATIVE music from outside the US..
Perhaps Pink Floyd/Syd Barrett, but as I said it is doubtful, but I will be getting Dark Side of the Moon when I can..
Thanks for your response but it seems that I have provided an impossible feat so far...

Beauty is in the eye (or ear) of the beholder.
Ever hear of Aesthetics?
Brian Wilson was overshadowed by the Beatles which is such a bad thing..
There are true artists like Daniel Johnston, Wilson, and Elliot Smith who come around very rarely...
Johnston was a true artist.
All of these guys that people are talking about are just normal joe sshmoes.. Beatles are Joe Sshmoes.. Brian Wilson was a true artist....
Look up these guys, they always die or get burned out because of drugs.. and it never makes sense.
