Billy Talent Alexisonfire Matthew Good Band/Matthew Good (my personal favorite) Our Lady Peace Moist and ones that have made it big in the US:Avril Lavigne Sum 41 Nickleback eta: Sarah Maclachlan Edited by DrJones*, : No reason given. Just a monkey in a long line of kings. If "elitist" just means "not the dumbest motherfucker in the room", I'll be an elitist! *not an actual doctor

None of you have shown me any ORIGINAL or INNOVATIVE music from outside the US..
You must be the only person on earth that considers the Beatles or King Crimson unoriginal and lacking in innovation. So I'm sure you have heard Alimaalman Vasarat which can only be described as horn metal. Tipographica as unoriginal Gentle Giant as unoriginal National Health as unoriginal Balleto di Bronzo as unoriginal Magma as unoriginal (they even made up their own language to sing in) Ignorance does not automatically justify criticism.

The Rankin Family can claim to be innovative apart from any American band as their style is Gaelic.
Tea Party is a class of their own. Leonard Cohen preceded by? I would say that these three are with out a doubt innovative and original. 2/3 of them I can only stand a couple songs however Hardly an impossible feat, it all depends on ones personal taste. Given that half my cd collection is taken up by one band (Nine Inch Nails) I guess that my tastes tend to lean on the American side of the border. ABE: Thanks for adding to the Canadian list Dr.Jones! I hesitated to add Avril Lavigne, Sum 41, and Nickleback as their huge popularity has prompted to making my ears bleed hearing them. But yes, they are Canadians Edited by Vacate, : No reason given.

Beauty is in the eye (or ear) of the beholder. Ever hear of Aesthetics? Brian Wilson was overshadowed by the Beatles which is such a bad thing.. There are true artists like Daniel Johnston, Wilson, and Elliot Smith who come around very rarely... Johnston was a true artist. All of these guys that people are talking about are just normal joe sshmoes.. Beatles are Joe Sshmoes.. Brian Wilson was a true artist.... Look up these guys, they always die or get burned out because of drugs.. and it never makes sense.

Kim Mitchell I don't know who this person is, but Joni Mitchell is Canadian. I might also add Robbie Robertson (and other "Band" mates?). Moose

How about Triumph or Three days grace?
Look to this day, For yesterday is already a dream. And tomorrow only a vision. But today We lived, makes every Yesterday a dream of Happiness and every tomorrow A vision of hope. Look well there to This day.

Thanks for all the good replies...
I have realized though that true artists are so rare. As I said before, this was only a test... Unfortunately nothing good came out of it from your end... But it doesnt matter anymore. GO LISTEN TO DANIEL JOHNSTON AND BRIAN WILSON AND ELLIOT SMITH NOW!! THEY ARE TRUE ARTISTS THEY ARE THE BEST OF OUR CENTURIES, THEY WILL BE REMEMBERED!! Europe is in a drought it looks like still though.. After the great classics there has been nothing very stimulating.. No true artists. But America is only lucky to have been gifted with these geniuses..

Yes, yes it was. Jannus is a small open air concert venue, You can really get close to the bands ( bumped into Jared Leto outside their tour bus in December)

Brian Wilson was overshadowed by the Beatles which is such a bad thing.. Brian Wilson is overrated. I always liked the Rolling Stones better than the Beatles and the Kinks better than the Stones. April by Deep Purple:
Page Not Found - Webs (should work--not positive on that though)(now tell me, what the hell is a proto-metal band doing playing this? Roundabout by Yes:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zdS82JR0FEA the problem with youtube? you can never find a satisfactory clip. Mood for a Day by Yes:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5y71XZJU9GU No Quarter by Zeppelin:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zNUSjHREAaw (part one) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RiVSH5aKgKY (part two) Battle of Evermore by Zeppelin:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6l0u-yPJLrM(now then, what kind of freak bassist plays a three neck guitar?)(and jimmy page should not play mandolin--leave that to those who can, like the bassist in that band) Welcome to the Machine by Pink Floyd:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S1eCYPAOBlE (you wanted original, innovative. Floyd pretty much tops the list) Shine on You Crazy Diamond:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mPefphuSY-k (part one) sadly, not even all of part one's here. its from "Wish You Were Here" total song length put together is about 25 minutes.

really? Okay. You asked for it.
Answers - The Most Trusted Place for Answering Life's Questions check up on these guys. You will find that most of them are not american. only 3.5 of them are americans--and 1.5 of that is three guys. it's only once you hit the jazz section that you really begin to find americans. really prophex, you should be careful what you ask for.
